Changed

Things have changed. Since I last saw you, my hair is longer, it’s a new colour too. My skin is darker, as I’ve let the sun kiss me all over just like you used to do. My hands are aging, as they go through life catching the next thing coming their way. Once those hands caressed you, just like they have with others after you too. My voice has changed, it no longer speaks of you. My laugh has changed, I can hear it all the time now.

Since I last saw you, I have grown. I pay my bills and nurtured my home, just like I did with you as a girl. But now that I have grown without you at my side, I am stronger. And since I last saw you, the meaning of you has faded and now all that remains are the flashbacks and mourning how much I gave you.
