Preface

The heavens were not what everyone on earth made them sound like. The roads were not paved with gold. Not everything glowed with a divine light. One thing the humans did get right was the people, or as they call us, the angels. We walked around with pure white wings. We didn’t love anyone but our god and we did not sleep. We did, however, have jobs. As an angel, it was considered an honor to have a job title. There are nine titles that could be held in the heavens, each were split into three groups from most important to the least. In each group held three types of angels. The first group is called the 1st sphere, it is the closest with god and it is made up of the Seraphim, Cherubim, and the Thrones. The 2nd Sphere consists of the Dominions, Virtues, and the Powers. The final Sphere has the Principalities, the Angels, and the well-known Archangels.

The closest to our God is the Seraphim, also known as the burning ones due to the fact that they radiate Pure Light. It is their duty to regulate the heavens. It was said that Lucifer himself, was a Seraph before he became the head of the fallen angels. In the same Sphere walk the Cherubim, the guardians of the gates of Eden They are the only angles that walk with 6 wings and 2 sets of arms. The final group in this Sphere are the Thrones, who have wings of fire and are the carriers of God’s Decisions.

In the second Sphere stand the Dominions, who give all the angels their titles and make sure they follow the rules that are set by God. After the Dominions, come the Virtues, the Angels of Grace who take God’s blessings to earth, usually in the form of miracles. They are also known as the “shining ones.” The Third group that stand in this Sphere are the Powers, they guard and keep peace within the universes, and keep the fallen angels from taking over and creating chaos.

The third and final sphere is where the least important angels walk. The Principalities, wherein you find your guardian angels. They guard the human worlds from evil angels that wish to cause harm to the world below. Then we have the most renowned group of angels: the Archangels. There are only 7 angels in this group, each with a name and specialty they are called to do. First is Michael, the Protector. Then there is his sister Gabriel, who is the Patron of Communication. Below those two there are five more who have no particular rank. They are the Twins of Death and Destruction, Azrael and Abaddon. Finally, we have Raphael, Angel of Healing, Jophiel, the Archangel of Art, and Ariel, the Patron of Animals and the Environment. The last group we have is called the Angelics, whom are the closest to humans. They are the “common folk” in heaven. Where there are no more than one hundred angels in any given group, there are thousands among thousands of angels.

I belong to the very first group mentioned. I am a Seraph. The highest honor an angel can have. I worship along with my brothers and sisters; or I did up until a couple thousand years ago when I had fallen in love with someone who was not God. My downfall started when I fell in love with Lucifer. He was a mighty Seraph. Beautiful in everything he did. He was God's right hand man and everyone knew it.

Then something changed. He started talking about how all of the Angels should be able to love whomever they want. He kept asking why it was that we had to love our God, and he desired to rise his throne above God. He wanted to be the most powerful. He had started to gather his own followers, Angels who believed that Lucifer should be sitting on the highest Throne and not God. Lucifer tried many times to convince me to join him, and even though I had loved him, I couldn’t turn my back on God. So I had to turn my back on him. When he was struck from heaven, along with his followers, I would never forget what he said to me.

“All Angels fall, Catherine, one day you will too. And when that happens I will be waiting for you to stand by my side once more.” he showed no remorse as god touched his chest and sent him falling like lightning to the Earth.
