“Hey, you see that?” Annabeth asked him, Joseph glanced to where she was looking and saw a boy and a girl walking together down a sidewalk path, holding hands the way lovers would. They kept walking and looking at the trees around them.

He blushed a bit and looked at her. He smiled cautiously and sat up straight.

“What about it?” Joseph asked as he smirked, his hands shaking and face flushed red.

Annabeth looked up, staring at the rosy sky above, smiling. Joseph almost had his mouth hanging. But he snapped back and rubbed his face with his sleeve.

“Ya know, I kinda want to be in a relationship with someone, but middle school love, ya know?” She admitted, “What if we held hands like that?”

Joseph’s eyes widened, everything started to spin, the area got blurry, only Annabeth’s face was visible. His mind started to race, no good answers came into his mind.

But then his face lit.

“B-but, we are not in a relationship, right? I mean, I’m probably not your type?” He spluttered around, his breath running short.

“Type? Do I have one?” She asked herself as she looked away, staring into the distance. The silence broke through between them, Joseph kept sitting silent, fiddling with his fingers.

She looked back at him and smiled.

“I’m into bad boys now that I think of that.”

His smiled faded and turned into a frown, his face turned pale while his heart sunk deep, but he still had a bit of fire of determination left. He chuckled nervously while tugging on his sweater strings, tightening his sweater a little too much.

“What’s wrong?” She questioned while looking back at him, Joseph quickly gazed down again, hiding his red face.

“Nothing, just, not feeling well.” Joseph tried to convince Annabeth, but she squinted her eyes and leaned towards him.

With his heart racing, he tried to lean back but she was a little too close.

“I knew it,” She whispered, making Joseph’s head and heart race more and more, his face as bright as a tomato, “You are sick!” She yelled afterward.

A wave of relief hit Joseph hard as Annabeth sat back down, his face turning back to his normal light brown hue. Joseph kept checking his watch on his wrist from time to time, not really listening to the conversations they had.

They went from school to love interests, Annabeth said her friend would be a good match since they both sucked at math. This also bruised his ego a bit more

“Oh, it’s 4:28, I gotta rush!” He suddenly interrupted Annabeth in her conversation about school and heritage.

“Bad Boys, huh? What do I do now?” Joseph questioned himself, as a small piece of paper fell out of his pocket, onto the ground.

He picked up the small paper, a smile formed on his face as he snatched the paper back into his pocket, rushing home.

“Thanks, Mom.” Joseph thought as he ran across the street, ignoring everything around him.

Ku_Rolet: The novel was good, and I really enjoyed reading it. I love the leads and their bond, but I have one question that confused me.
