Chapter 1: First Day Of Freak

Anóitos

You know how your first day at a new school is always terrifying? Well, rest assured, cause mine was definitely way more terrifying than yours…trust me.

“Here we go…” I sighed as I walked through the gates of Thirío Academy. What’s Thirío Academy you may ask? Well, it’s only the best, the biggest, and the most prestigious college in all of Spíti! My older sister, Tamara, applied for Thirío, but didn’t get accepted, and now, they except me! I actually feel really honored and—this is gonna sound weird—kinda…special…pff, cringey, right?

While I was walking down the massive hall, (and I mean MASSIVE) I saw this big square table with a bunch of papers on it. Behind the table was this girl, she looked about 7 years younger than me, and she was holding a stack of papers, stopping random people, and giving them a sheet of paper.

What’s a 13 year old girl doing at a college? I thought to myself.

Next to her was a guy that looked about 18, and from his expression, it looked like he couldn’t care less about that table. He and the girl looked really different, so I wouldn’t say they were siblings. The girl had strait up white hair, and I mean WHITE. She had icy blue eyes that matched her mini skirt. She was wearing an off the shoulder white blouse that matched her hair—and did I mention the freaking bunny ears she wore? Plus the stockings and black ballet flats…she looked like a freaking Neko! Her and the guy next to her are polar opposites, he had black shaggy hair, pale skin, and is eye’s were the lightest shade of green I’ve ever seen! His nose ring went straight through his nose, his black leather jacket was unzipped, only to reveal a plain black t-shirt, he pretty much wore all black, except for a pink and white beaded bracelet…wonder why though?

The girl next to him turned to me and smiled. “Are you Anóitos Chymós?” She asked.

“Yes.” I replied.

She stuck her hand out for a handshake. “I’m Kounéli Quarotō,” She said as I shook her hand. “And that’s my brother, Álogo.” She said, pointing to the dude next to her.

“Hi.” He said coldly.

“Uhh…hi.” I waved, but he didn’t wave back, he just stared of into the distance.

Kounéli handed me a sheet of paper like she did to the other students. “This has your school schedule, dorm number, and passcode for your dorm.” She said.

“Wait,” I said. “Passcode?”

“There’s a little key pad on your dorm’s door, and those are the numbers you use to unlock it.” She said.

“Duh…” Álogo muttered under his breath.

“Umm…I should get going…” I said. “It was nice to meet you.”

Kounéli smiled. “Nice meeting you too.”

I started walking away, then looked down at my dorm number; 402…great…I’m on the 4th floor…and thus, I started looking for my dorm.

•••

After a long elevator ride—thank God for that—I finally found dorm 402, the lights were already in, so I assumed my roommate was already inside. I looked down at the passcode; 010620, and unlocked the door. When I opened the door I saw this guy hanging up a rainbow flag on the wall next to his bed. He had dyed red hair, and was wearing a green t-shirt, with black sweats. He had headphones in, so he probably wouldn’t hear me if I said hi. So I just walked to the other side of the room, and plopped my duffle bag on the bed. It made a loud noise that caused the guy to jump, and look at me. He took out his headphones and smiled at me apologetically.

“Hi,” He said. “I’m Karcha, and I’m a fish.”

“What?” I asked.

“I mean…” He stuttered. “I’m…officially…your new roommate.” He said nonchalantly.

“Ok…” I said. “I’m Anóitos.”

His smile got wider. “You’re the human Kounéli told me about!”

“Okay…” I looked at him suspiciously.

“I-I mean person!” He quickly saved. “Heh…” He smiled uneasily.

Something’s not right about this dude…

•••

Once I got unpacked there was pretty much nothing else to do, classes didn’t start until tomorrow, so I got bored pretty quickly. I saw Karcha about to leave the room. “Where are you going?” I asked him.

“To the Fight Club’s hangout.” He replied.

“The what?” I asked.

“Wanna come?” He asked, completely ignoring my question.

I have no idea what the Fight Club is. “Uhh…sure…” I said, though it came out like a question.

“Well c’mon then!” He said enthusiastically.

I got up from my bed, and followed him out. Once I was walking next to him I got a clearer view of his eyes. They were the most beautiful eyes I’ve ever seen, and I’ve never seen hazel eyes before.

After we’ve been walking for a while, he stopped in front of a room.

Thirío Akadimía Páli Léschi

It looked Greek to me.

I was about to ask Karcha if this was the right place, but he opened the door before I even got a chance to open my mouth. When I looked inside, it seemed like a normal hangout, two sofas near the center, an egg chair near the window, and a mini fridge. Seems pretty normal, right? Wrong. First off, in between the sofas was a frickin pool! Second, there was a frickin litter box in the corner, and no cat! A piece of old cheese on a table, crusty carrots on the floor—oh, and did I mention the PASTURE OUTSIDE WITH JUMPS AND TAC ON THE BENCHES!?!?!?! I thought Karcha said it was the Fight Club, not Saddle Club!

“Hey guys.” Karcha said walking over to sit with this girl about a few years younger than us, she had black stringy hair, with choppy bangs.

“Karcha!” She said, looking in his direction, but her eyes never landed on him. Speaking of which, she had dull gray eyes, they were very pretty, but I doubted she could see.

“Hey, lil sis!” He said with the biggest smile ever. She stretched out her arms for a hug, and he gladly hugged her, pretty tightly.

While they were hugging, I skimmed the room to find two familiar faces.

“Anóitos!” Kounéli said, patting the seat next to her.

I sat down and smiled at her.

“Quit staring at her, perv.” Her brother growled.

“ I-I am not a perv!” I stated.

“Yeah, yeah, we all know you just wanna get her in bed, and do the nasty with her.” Álogo said.

“W-what?!” I asked, angrily.

“Álogo, stop it!” Kounéli said. “You say this to every guy I meet! I keep telling you, I’m not losing my virginity until I’m 25!” She said.

I don’t know why she said 25, but hey, her life, not mine.

“Guys, quit it.” I heard a voice say from above us.

I looked up, and saw this girl with long, flowing red hair. She jumped down from the platform she was standing on.

“Plus,” She turner to Kounéli. “You’re not doing anything with anyone until you’re married.” She smirked playfully at her.

“Quit acting like my mom, Tári!” Kounéli said, embarrassed.

So that’s what her name is… I thought to myself.

Karcha came over to give Tári a hug. “How’ve you been Tári? I haven’t seen you in forever, cuz!” He said.

Wait–cuz?!

“Are you two related?” I asked hesitantly.

“Yep,” Karcha answered. “Tári and Aíous are my mom’s sister’s daughters, Kounéli and Álogo are my dad’s cousin’s kids, and Opitz is my little sister.” He said.

“You can call me Fídí.” Opitz said with a smile.

“Anyways,” Tári said to Karcha. “Find any cute boys you like?” She asked.

“Well there’s this one that…” Karcha started off positively, then he frowned. “But I think he’s straight.” He sighed.

“Don’t worry,” A girl said from behind me.

I jumped.

“Sorry!” She said. “I didn’t mean to scare you!”

“It’s okay.” I said.

“Are you sure?” She asked.

“Yes, I’m fine.” I said, smiling. She was being really kind to me.

“Only if your sure,” She said, tucking some dyed gray hair behind her ear. “I’m Aíous, by the way.” She stuck her hand out, and I shook it.

“I’m Anóitos.” I said.

We stood there awkwardly for a while, unsure of what to do next.

“…soo you two gonna make out, or what?” Tári asked, breaking the silence.

“Tári!” Aíous yelled.

“Tári, you know she’s ace.” Karcha said.

“Kidding! Kidding!” Tári laughed.

“Hey, where’re Lupa and Poulí?” Álogo asked after Tári’s laughter died down.

Great, more random people mentioned in my presence. I said to myself.

“Good question…” Fídí said.

“Ahh!” I heard someone growl outside.

“That’s Lupa,” Aíous said dangerously serious. “Come on!” She said sprinting to the door. Everyone followed at the same speed. I had no idea of what was happening, but I still followed them out of the building.

Once we were outside, I got a cleare view of things, and I did not like that. Next to the dumpster, two wolves were beating each other up, one on the bottom, one on top. The one on the bottom bit the one on top’s neck, causing it to flinch. The bottom one took advantage of that, and pinned the one on top to the ground.

Korítsi, Lupa.” Aíous said.

I was to busy trying to figure out what she had said, that I didn’t notice the wolves were gone, but instead two humans in their place. Wow…how did I miss that?!?!

I assumed the girl on top was Lupa, no one said the guy she pinned down’s name.

He smirked seductively. “This position seems familiar…” he winked at her.

She growled.

“Come down, baby,” He said, his voice husky. “Don’t you wanna…?” He whispered while sliding his hand up her shirt.

“Stop it.” She demanded.

He didn’t stop.

He pushed her off, and shoved her against a wall. “Come on…” He said. “We both know you wanna taste me again…”

Her eyes widened.

He licked her neck, and she gasped.

He chuckled. “You want more?”

She glared at him, staring him down. She suddenly kicked him in the balls, and he stumbled back. She ran toward us, but he stopped her.

“Take one more step,” He yelled, and grabbed a bird sitting on the dumpster, and pointing a pocketknife at it’s neck. “Or the bird gets it!”

She immediately pivoted, and grabbed a stick, swinging it over her head. It landed in the center of his forehead, knocking him out. The bird flew to her, and literally morphed into a human.

WHAT THE ACTUAL GOSH DIDLEY DARN FUDGE NUGGETS JUST HAPPENED!!!!?????!!!?!?!

The human bird…thing, gave Lupa a hug, and everyone behind me ran to her.

“Oh, honey, are you okay?” Tári asked, cupping Lupa’s face in her hands.

“I’m fine.” She grumbled.

“No she’s not.” The bird/human said.

“Thanks Poulí, we haven’t noticed.” Álogo said sarcastically.

The Poulí they were talking about was a bird?!

I just stood there, gaping at them while they were worrying about Lupa.

Aíous finally noticed me, like I was invisible at first. She smiled nervously.

“What just happened?” I finally asked.

Kounéli shrugged while smiling. “Welcome to the Fight Club.”
