Summary

"Your wolf is showing," they said in unison. "I know." Maybe New York wouldn't be so bad after all. A new pack meant a new playground. . . Since the day I turned fifteen and realized I wasn't like every other wolf in the pack. I wanted out. But with that knowledge came the very real truth that I was more of a prisoner than a pack member. With that came an even more real truth the pack needed me more then I'd ever need them. Blue Moon pack was small and weak it didn't take eagle eyes to see that. So they wouldn't let me and I wouldn't stop raising hell until they did. Just when I finally think Alpha Daniel has had it with me and my shit, I pack my bags ready to high tail it out of the forest he does something that surprises me and I'm rarely ever surprised. He announces to probably every mama wolfs joy that I'm to mate with the Alpha of the Silver Fangs pack in New York. How my humble and wonderous (note the sarcasm) Alpha managed that magic trick I have no idea. What I do know is that Alphas liked their Lunas pure, untouched and ditzy. Boy is Mr. Silver Fangs in for a surprise.

Prologue: Goodbye San Francisco

I walk into Alpha Daniels office for what I could only guess the millionth time since I turned fifteen. I had my black book bag hanging on one shoulder while pulling my suitcase on wheels behind me. He raised one eyebrow just barely acknowledging me as he finished up his phone call. Once finished motioned for me to take a seat in the chair opposite to him. It was my turn to raise an eyebrow. He chuckled which was rare for him to do in my presence and that alone had all kinds of red flags going off in my brain.

“Your wolf” he sobered quickly “is showing.” He was referring to my eyes. They always turned wolf when I experienced intense emotions and bad tell that I couldn’t control no matter how hard I tried.” I shrugged “Every time I’m summoned I never like what is said.” He stood now with a manilla folder in his hand “I have some good news for you.” He said as he came around his desk closer to me. “You’re leaving the pack.”

“I’m leaving the pack,” I repeated dumbly.

“Yes, I’ve found you a mate in the Silver Fang pack in New York.” He smiled as he said it. “You mating with their Alpha will merge our packs and we’ll finally have the protection from the Blood Ink pack.”

I took a step back. I couldn’t have heard him right.

Silver Fangs.

New York.

I gripped my suitcase handle hard. So hard it broke. “Your wolfs showing again” Alpha daniels spoke softly. “Oh yeah” I took a step forward letting my suitcase fall to the carpeted floor. I felt my teeth elongate in my mouth. “You know your blood would look so pretty splattered across this spotless white rug,” I tell him.

I watched him take a frightened step back and smiled. He whimpered weakly like the weak omega I knew he was. I knew my fangs were showing. I knew right now I resembled more of a wolf than a human as I slow stalked towards him in time as he stepped back. Stalking my prey. I can admit when I got like this when I was in some weird in-between of not being a wolf or human I was at my most dangerous. I couldn’t rationalize the consequences.

Alpha Daniel soon ran out of room to back away and resorted to sliding against the wall away from me. I took my time I had infinite patience and he was running out of room to run. There was a knock at the door I growled in response to someone opening it and letting my prey escape.

The man who opened the door tsked at me before crossing his shoulders and leaning on the frame. It took me a minute to regain control of my wolf. It took a lot of coaxing and reassuring that she’d get to hunt soon. The man waited patiently.

“Who are you?” I asked as I walked to my broken suitcase and picked it up by the bar.

“I’m wondering the same thing.” he responded, “man this pack is hella weird and weak asf.” I nodded my head in agreeance. “To think that we’re actually merging with this piece of shit pack all for a bitch who might be a secret weapon in the war” he ranted on.

Welp any semi balance of camaraderie I thought might bloom flowed quickly down the drain into the gutter. Just when I thought the situation couldn’t get any worse another unknown male popped into the door. “Hey bro I got a pic of the bitch we’re looking for but man it was hard as fuck to get. This packs weird as hell.” He looked up at me and smiled “well I’ll be damned Rocco you already found her.”

Rocco looked me in my face silently. I tilted my head to the smiled devilishly as my teeth elongated into fangs. “Your wolf is showing,” they said in unison.

“I know.” Maybe New York wouldn’t be so bad after all. A new pack meant a new playground and new playgrounds always had new toys. “I didn’t introduce my self formally,” I said walking towards them “I’m Alana Simmons and your Rocco” I pointed at him then at his friend “Alexi.” His friend supplied. “Alexi” I repeated. “Silver Fang pack right?”

They both nodded but Rocco eyed me a little warily. He’d after all seen the tail end of what could have been the death of Alpha Daniels. “Y’all here to whisk me away to New York.” I smiled brightly.

“You seem a little too happy to be leaving your pack” Alexi mentioned as I walked past them into the upstairs hallway. “Well seeing as I almost mauled dear old Alpha Daniels before Rocco walked in it’s either the Silver Fangs or death.” I looked over my shoulder at Alexi “guess which one I pick?”
