PROMISE

‘I don’t believe that anybody feels the way I do about now’

Issac was singing again at loggerheads across the street from my house. He would always text me when he would perform there so I could listen to him sing without having to pay $35 for some crab and $10 for water. Most nights I would sit in my white Jeep Wranglers trunk with kris and listen to issacs elegant voice but tonight was different. Tonight I was alone. Kris was out of town with her cousins from Canada, my parents were on a week long cruise in the Caribbean and I was stuck here all up in my feelings looking like an idiot in my ex boyfriends lifeguard sweatshirt he left at my house the day he left.

‘Thank you everyone have a nice night’

He was done for tonight which meant he was coming here. I went to grab my phone to check my mascara but it was too late issac was already ahead of me with my phone in his hand.

‘Hey goofball’ he couldn’t tell I was sad he couldn’t see the mascara running from my face. He was too tall to see my face from that angle. It didn’t help I was hiding my face so he couldn’t tell I was crying.

‘ wait your in his hoodie what’s wrong ‘ he had a worried look on his face, and a look of sadness appearing in his eyes. He hated when I was sad.

‘Nothing this is just the last clean hoodie i had’ I lied.
