Prologue
For me its simple. Before meeting you, I was a complete wreck. You know, the stereotypical shy nerd kid that didn’t want anything to do with anyone. Well except for the characters in my books, but thats beside the point. I would often spend my time in the library, just to get away from others. But you were so persistent, always there getting right in my way of being antisocial. I even remember that one time, when we first met. You chased me through the book shelfs in the schools library, just to get me to talk to you. Or when you walked me all the way across town to my house, so you could see the way my face lit up when I talked about the book I was reading.
I think it was about a year into our friendship when I realized that I had feelings for you. Heck, I could even say I loved you. My heart would do flips at the way you looked at me, or when you would get exited about the smallest things we would do together. Your ears would perk up and your tail would start swaying back ad forth, just the way it would when you were really happy. I thought it was the cutest thing ever, but you always swore that I was the most adorable being on this planet.
With you it seemed like someone cared, like I was needed. I was to close to —— but somehow you made it seem so far away. I’ve always wanted to know how you did that. And if anything I probably wouldn’t be standing here today without you. Don’t you think its funny how much people can change?
A tear managed to make its way down my cheek, caressing it just like you used to.
After the accident I had a hunch you would end up dead, yet I would always push it to the back of my mind. I was hoping you would live, just like I did. But it seems I had thought wrong...
