Chapter 1
I have a game
I play it quite often
The rules are simple
I stop texting you for a while, you realise how much you miss me,
You text me back and restore my belief
That yes, I do mean something to you
Unfortunately for me, you’ve mastered the game
At least that’s what I like to think
Because I lose every single time
I’ve tried to figure it out
In all ways possible
It takes 21 days to break a habit
Funny how it takes you only two
I wonder what it takes to miss someone
Because it was real
Those conversations
The ones I keep reading in cycles
Those 2 am talks
Now that only exist in memory
The dirty jokes that come to mind
The ones I’d never share with anyone else
But I guess we’re still playing the game
We’ve both gotten so good at it
I’m afraid I’m getting better
And while I’d give anything to lose
I’m afraid this time
I’ll win
