Childhood Friend (Jungkook x Reader)

You had a childhood friend named Jungkook, you were neighbors. Both of your parents were business people, and since they were close together, you two also became very close. Most of the time they weren’t home during the day. They would always drop you guys off at an old lady’s house in the neighborhood. She was a friend of your mom, and was very nice and always took good care of you and Jungkook. You felt like she was your own granny, you and Jungkook always played together and became very close. You and Jungkook were now teens, and you were still very close together.

People would often approach you guys and ask if you were a couple. You always laughed and said that it wasn’t like that and that you guys were like siblings. Many people envied you, Jungkook was the perfect guy. He had a nice body, handsome face, and a good personality. Everything was just perfect, especially his bunny teeth that, was a real lady killer. You guys were often home alone because your parents had to go on business trips. You guys were old enough to take care of yourself now, so it wasn’t necessary to go to the old woman’s house. You and Jungkook had made this sort of tradition that every Friday after school, you guys would watch movies at his place.

Everything was just perfect until Jungkook just disappeared. You had no idea where he had gone. After worrying sick for days, you heard from granny that Jungkook left overseas. Granny didn’t know why he left. You were very sad, angry and shocked. Why didn’t he tell you? Even though you tried to call him many times, he never answered. You thought that maybe he has gone overseas because of something that had to do with the business of his parents. If this was the case, why didn’t he tell you about it? Is he coming back? Will you ever see him again? The house where he lived wasn’t sold so you still had hope that he would come back one day.

-1 year later-

You were now in art school and it’s been a year since Jungkook disappeared. You still had hoped he would come back because of the house that still wasn’t up for sale. Your friends always told you that you shouldn’t have high expectations. But you were really stubborn, it didn’t matter what they said because you still had that little hope. You just couldn’t part with Jungkook. Even though he was gone now, you still talked about him every day. Sometimes you drove your friends nuts. But they could tell that you really loved him.

You always joked that Jungkook would appear out of nowhere as nothing happened, and you would slap him really hard. Little did you know that that could become real one day. The school was over and you were just talking with your friends while walking to the bus. You always rode the bus alone because your friends needed to take the subway to go home. Luckily it was Friday so you couldn’t wait to get home and just relax not stressing about homework. You guys were almost there, you just needed to go through a small tunnel. That’s when you saw a strange figure standing still inside the tunnel. You couldn’t see who it was, but you could see that it was a guy. You were getting closer and closer until you saw it was a familiar face, a really familiar face!

“Y/N!!!” the guy screamed and gestured for a hug. You just froze for a second. You were unable to react, you were so happy. The one and only Jungkook that you missed so much were standing right in front of you. You wanted to cry but held in your tears. You couldn’t believe it! Your joke of him appearing one day just became real. You jumped right in his arms and hugged him. You missed him so much, his cute smile, his warm hugs, his scent and of course his cute bunny teeth that could make your day every time. Now you didn’t have to worry if he was alright, did he eat well or if he might felt lonely. Your worries washed away just like that. You didn’t want to let go until you remembered that you should be really mad at him. You pulled away from the hug and slapped him really hard.

“Ouch! What was that for?” Jungkook said while rubbing his head.

“What do you mean what was that for? That was for leaving me for a year without even an explanation or anything,” you exclaimed. Now you were really mad.

It seemed like he didn’t know why you were so mad. He acted like disappearing for a year was the most normal thing ever.

“Alright, I’m sorry okay. Did my little Y/N miss me that much?” he said while patting your head treating you like a little kid.

In the meantime, your friends were staring in awe at the situation not wanting to get between you guys. Was he making fun of you? Oh hell no! You slapped his hand away and started walking to the bus station. Jungkook stood there processing what just happened and realized that what he did was wrong.

“You know, she really missed you. All this time she had hoped that you would come back for her one day even though we were doubtful.” one of your friends said to Jungkook.

Jungkook carefully listened to your two friends who began to tell him about how you always talked about him, and always had hope he would come back. You would often visit his old house to check if he was still gone. Jungkook smiled. It was clear that he really loved you but it was different. Almost as if he didn’t love you as a close friend but something more.

“Her worrying and always thinking about me, I don’t deserve it,” he said while looking at the ground. He then shot his head up and smiled.

“Thank you for telling me all this.” he quickly ran away just in time to catch the bus you were on.

You slapped his hand away and started walking further to the bus station. All kind of thoughts were going through your head.

Why did he make fun of me? Doesn’t he know that I really missed him? Did he even miss me? Why isn’t he after me right now? Tears started streaming down your cheek, you quickly wiped them away when you reached the bus. You took a window seat on the bus and just stared out the window lost in thought. You then felt someone sit beside you. You looked up and saw it was Jungkook. He smiled and you just ignored him and turned your head, giving him the silent treatment.

“Are you mad?” Jungkook asked with a worried face. You said nothing continuing the silent treatment.

“I’m really sorry okay, I know I shouldn’t have acted like that. I really missed you too, and I’m really sorry for leaving like that, but I can explain all of it.” Jungkook said eager for your response. You didn’t say a word.

You weren’t mad at him anymore, it probably wasn’t his fault for leaving. Hearing him say that he really missed you made you so happy. Suddenly you felt a poke at your side.

“Come on you can’t be that mad at me right?” Jungkook said with a pouting face while poking you in your side waist.

You tried to hold in your laughter to maintain your angry attitude. Suddenly Jungkook started doing really weird aegyo and you couldn’t help but laugh really hard. You laughed so much that there were tears in your eyes. You could see that he was extremely happy.

“Now you’re not mad at me any more right?” he asked.

“No I’m not mad anymore kookie.” he gave you a cute smile and you bumped his arm with your elbow.

“Now tell me what happened one year ago and no excuses.” Jungkook started telling his story. It was just a normal day and he just got home from work at the coffee shop. His phone fell at work and it broke so he wanted to tell his mom about it if she could get him a new phone. When he got home everything was packed, even his parents’ clothes. His mom just greeted him and told him to take the stuff outside. Jungkook asked her what was going on, but she just told him it would be explained later. He just did as he was told. She told him to get in the car. He had a suspicion that we would go somewhere to stay, but he didn’t know it would be overseas. He was told in the car that his dad had got an opportunity to start his own business in America and that they didn’t want to waste time so that we would leave today.

The first thing he thought about was Y/N. He argued with his parents to ask them if he could just stay here but they didn’t let him. They said that they would need his help with starting the business. He asked them to stop the car so he could see you and explain everything. Tears started to form in your eyes hearing this from Jungkook. You could see that he really meant it.

His mom wouldn’t let him get out of the car and just told him to explain it to you through a phone call. However, his phone broke that day and he didn’t remember your phone number. He was in America helping his dad with his business for a year.

“Why are you back know?” you asked while looking him in the eyes.

“Because I missed you too much,” he replied and you started blushing at his words.

“There’s only one reason why I didn’t jump out of the car that day,” he said and you gave him a questioning look.

“I made a promise with my parents that day if I would help my dad for a year they would let me go back to you and be with you forever.” he smiled.

You grinned and put your pinky in the air. Jungkook gave you a confused look.

“Now promise me you will be with me forever and never leave like that again,” you said in a serious tone.

Jungkook chuckled and made you a pinky promise. Before you guys knew it it was time to get out of the bus. You and Jungkook happily walked together. Jungkook suddenly began to run, you were confused and didn’t know why. Then it hit you as he ran towards granny that was watering her plants outside.

“Granny!” Jungkook screamed.

Granny was a little startled but soon showed a bright smile when she saw it was Jungkook. She hugged him and gave him a slap on his head.

“Ouch! Why did you slap me, Y/N did it too?” he whined.

“Serves you right,” she said while pinching his cheek.

You chuckled at the scene, it was so cute to see Jungkook and Granny together. Jungkook started explaining everything to granny. After that, you guys chatted a little with granny until it became pretty dark. You and Jungkook said your goodbyes to granny and went home. Just when you began to walk to your door you felt pulling your wrist, you turned your head and saw Jungkook.

“No, did you already forget?” he asked and you stared at him in confusion.

“It’s Friday,” he said. suddenly you knew what he was talking about.

“Ah, I get it,” you replied.

“Finally.” he giggled.

“You want to have a movie night now, but I’m so tired,” you said whining.

“I don’t care, a tradition is a tradition.” Jungkook pulled you by your wrist into his house.

Everything was just the same as it used to be. You were looking through the house while jungkook disappeared to his room. He came back and tossed you a pair of sweatpants and a shirt to change into. Most of the Friday nights you would always fall asleep halfway. That’s why you always watched the movies in pajamas. That way he didn’t have to wake you up again to change into clothes. You changed into his clothes, they were a little too big, but they still looked good on you. You got in the living room and Jungkook was preparing some snacks. He looked at you with wide eyes and awkwardly coughed. You ignored it and threw yourself on the couch.

-Jungkooks POV-

Oh my god, how can she look so good in my clothes?

I thought as I felt my cheeks burning and just awkwardly coughed. I really love her, but more than a friend. Being away from her for a year made me realize that I really can’t live without her.

“So what movie are we going to watch?” you asked.

“There’s a pile of movies on the table, just choose one of those,” Jungkook said while joining you on the couch with the snacks.

“Let’s watch this one.” you showed him the movie. It was a movie you and Jungkook watched a long time ago, but the funny thing is, Jungkook cried at the end of the movie.

“Haha,” he said sarcastically.

“What? You don’t wanna watch it? Are you going to cry again?” you said while patting his head treating him like a little kid just like he did with you.

“Well you’re really mean.” he laughed.

“No I’m not.” you denied.

“You are,” he replied.

You guys started laughing together and you noticed that he was staring at you for a while.

“What?” you asked. He looked away.

“Nothing,” he replied quickly.

“Liar tell me,” you said while poking his waist. He suddenly pulled you by your wrist and hugged you. You were shocked but you hugged him back.

“I just really missed you,” he said while burying his face in your neck.

You could feel his warm breath on your neck, and his tight grip around your waist. You wanted to stay like this forever. It was silent for a time and you were still hugging each other.

“Jungkook?” you asked.

“Yeah” he replied still hugging you.

“Sing me a song,” you said simply.

“What!” Jungkook gasped at your sudden request.

“You always sang for me when I was very tired, so just sing for me like old times,” you said while showing him a cute smile. He chuckled at your cuteness.

“Alright, I will sing for you.” Jungkook started singing lost stars.

You closed your eyes and placed your head in his neck. You could hear his angelic voice right next to your ear. His warm sweet voice and his lovely scent were all you could think of. Before you knew it you were already asleep in his arms.

“Y/N?” Jungkook asked but with no reply.

He looked down at you and saw that you were sleeping. He chuckled and carried you bridal style to his bed and laid next to you. He covered your body with his blanket and brushed your hair behind your ear before placing a kiss on your forehead. He then lays back next to you while placing your head on his chest and his arm around your waist.

“I love you Y/N.” he kissed you one more time on your head before drifting off to sleep.
