Prologue
Heaven, third person POV:
I can’t believe it” Jin said incredulously, his shoulders slumped. “I knew that he was a bit of a rebel, and I saw that he was becoming over-fond...I should have reassigned him...I failed him” Jin said sadly, his deep, musical voice weighted with guilt and sorrow. “Now he’s gone...” he trailed off, absently smoothing the feathers of his wings as he looked off into the horizon, the clouds and sunshine bathing his perfect form, causing him to glow, his beauty ethereal and striking.
“Don’t be so hard on yourself” Hoseok said, gently patting Jin’s shoulder, even the small smile he offered lighting up his handsome face, his inner joy showing throw his warm, friendly eyes. “We all knew how he was...he could be so infuriatingly irreverent of everything we hold sacred” he said regretfully, shaking his head.
“We all failed him...” Jungkook said, his big deer eyes shining with unshed tears. “What do we do about it now?” He asked, looking like he was honestly seeking answers from his older brothers.
“I don’t know...but we certainly can’t let him turn out like those other Fallen...they’ll be campaigning for him, you know” Jin said thoughtfully. “Perhaps it’s time we took a more active role in our brother’s education...” he said. “We certainly can’t let Namjoon’s crew exert their influence on him...they’ll ruin him. He’s special...I would rather not lose him. His only real transgression was love...” he added, seeming thoughtful.
Jungkook’s eyes lit up, his adorable bunny smile showing itself through his sorrow. “You mean-!” He asked, practically bouncing on his feet.
“Lets go down and find him. He needs our guidance now, more than ever” Jin said, sweeping out of the room, Hoseok and Jungkook in tow.
The Globe, third person POV:
“We got another one incoming, boys” Namjoon called out, his senses picking up the presence of a new Fallen. He grinned broadly, his dimples deep in his face, making him even more handsome.
Yoongi sat up and yawned, stretching and turning over on the couch, where he’d been sleeping. “Do you have to announce it so loudly?” he said irritably, his entire countenance radiating grumpy cat. He burrowed into his pillows and checked back out, intent on re-capturing the coma-like sleep he’d been in prior to Joon’s outburst.
“I wonder which one it was?” Taehyung said, grinning up at the ceiling. He shot a mischievous box grin to Namjoon, who shrugged and raised his eyebrows.
“Your guess is as good as mine...although my money’s on Park Jimin. He’s been on the edge lately, craving the pleasures of the flesh with that girl he’s so obsessed with” he said, chuckling quietly.
“I’d heard about that...at least if it is him, he’ll be easy to find” Taehyung said. “Maybe I’ll go pay the girl a visit...see what all of the fuss is about?” he teased, his eyes sparkling with mischief as he bit his lip. “She must be something special to risk an expulsion over...” he mused.
“If it’s even him” Yoongi grumbled from his cocoon of pillows on the couch.
“I hope it is...this’ll be fun” Tae grinned wider at the thought, looking out the window of the high-rise they lived in, down on the city below. All the little mortals scurrying here and there, all so busy living their short, ineffectual little lives. Before he’d fallen, Tae had been bitter rivals with Jimin. They’d always seemed to be on the opposite end of every argument...except when it came to bending the arbitrary, stifling rules up there. It would be good to see him again. “I’m going out, brother” he said, standing suddenly from where he’d been crouched, his golden wings disappearing as he prepared to look ‘normal’, out on the street.
“Use a condom” Namjoon teased, laughing when Tae smirked at him.
“It’s only sanitary” he shot back, laughing softly at the very idea that immortal Fallen such as themselves had anything to fear from human diseases...and it wasn’t like they could reproduce...so sex was a much more pleasurable and risk free endeavor for them. Tae smirked as he walked out the door. Maybe he’d go see what he could rustle up in that new club that’d just opened? Women were always so eager to be used by him...it was almost too easy. A flirtatious smile, buy them a drink, charm them with his looks...child’s play.
He shook his head as he closed the door and walked down the hall to the elevator. First he needed to find out for sure if it was truly Jimin whom Namjoon had sensed. Things were about to get interesting down here on the Globe.
