Chapter 1
A year and a half later...

Isa POV
I walked up to the entrance landing where two pot plants stood to my right and left, lights next to both of them, with the box in my hand. I was late for supper, but I’m sure that this would distract her from that- completely.
I opened the front door with my keys and walked in. To my left was the lounge in colors of cream and soft mint green. In the middle sat a wooden coffee table and a pale green oriental rug. Further down was the kitchen.
The supper table was laid, a pot on the stove. The amazing aroma of hot food wafted through the air. Haniyyah wasn’t here. I turned left and a few steps down the corridor was our bedroom -an en-suite.
Opposite our bedroom was a bathroom and next to that was a guest room.
I entered our bedroom to see Haniyyah walk out of the walk-in closet, buttoning up a silk mink blouse.
She looked up at me, her curls falling over her eyes.
“Assalamualaikum sweetie, what took you so long?” She asked.
The box was hidden behind my back. I smiled widely and pulled it out in front of me. “This,” I said, handing it to her.
She raised an eyebrow and took it from me. “What is it?” She asked, lifting the lid slowly.
“Oh my goodness” she squealed as she let the lid drop to the floor.
A surprised ‘meow’ echoed from the box. “Oh my gosh, would you look at this little fluff ball!” She exclaimed taking it out of the box.
“It’s a she, or so I was told,” I said, walking up to them.
“Where did you get her from?”
“A friend of mine from work. His daughters' cat just had kittens a few weeks back and so I went over and picked one a few days after they were born. He trained her for us so we didn’t have to”
“Oooh I’ve always wanted a kitten,” she said, hugging the white kitten gently. She lifted the cat up to her and rested her chin on its back, both of them staring at me.
“I was right. Both of you'll have the same color eyes” I said.
“I didn’t realize” Haniyyah laughed, walking towards the mirror on the left of the bed.
“I’m starving,” I said as I took off my jacket.
“How was work today?” Haniyyah asked, putting the kitten on the bed and tying up her hair.
“Not so bad actually. I think my boss likes me. He offered to take me out for coffee this Saturday to discuss some plans for expanding the business.”
“That’s great!” Haniyyah said.
I worked for an architectural company. One of the best ones around. We built state of the art buildings, hotels, shopping centers, anything you could think of. There was a new boss. The previous one had been a snooty old man who couldn’t see further than his huge tummy and did anything to make money.
He had resigned at the beginning of the year, making way for someone new. That someone was the infamous billionaire Joseth Typhus.
Joseth Typhus was the owner of several other businesses including fast-food restaurants and shopping malls. The difference between him and the other boss- Samson- was that he cared about seeing the business prosper and he had quite the athletic figure, unlike Samson.
“Let’s go eat. Did you bring food for this little one?” Haniyyah asked.
“Jee, it’s in the car, I’ll get it”
“You do that, I’ll put supper on the table”
“What’s for supper, by the way? It smelled divine when I walked in”
“Butter chicken and savory rice” she smiled. One of my favorite dishes.
“Oh damn! How’d I ended up with someone like you? Intelligent, gorgeous and knows how to cook. I’ve got the full package.
She rolled her eyes and punched me in the arm playfully. “It’s a shame I can’t say the same,” she said and walked out the room.
“Ouch!” I said to the little kitten. She looked at me, meowed and scurried away, as if afraid of me.
“Double ouch”

“Are we going to your mother’s tonight?” I asked as I washed out my plate.
“Aren’t you tired? You look tired” Haniyyah said, putting her plate in the sink.
I picked it up and began washing it, “Yet here I am, washing dishes” I sighed jokingly.
“I think you missed a spot here,” she said, handing me the pot.
“Uh-huh. I see.” I said. Then I turned around and threw a handful of water at her.
“What?” She gasped, looking down at her wet blouse. “Oh, you are so on!” She said.
“What you gonna do?” I taunted, holding out my hands, blocking her from the tap.
“This!” She said as she strode towards the fridge.
She pulled out a bottle of fridge water and unscrewed it. “Hey no!” I exclaimed, laughing.
“You asked for it!” She called out, running behind me.
I ran to our room and into the bathroom. Just as I began closing the door, she rushed in.
“No no no” I called out, backing away and laughing crazily.
She dumped the cold water onto my head and it streamed down my face and onto my shirt, soaking it.
I looked up at her, smiled slyly and lunged at her.
“Isa!” She exclaimed. I picked her up and carried her into the shower. “Don’t you-“ she began, but my hand was already on the handle. Water came pouring down on both of us and she laughed. “Actually, I was going to wash my hair tomorrow” she smiled.
I wrapped my arms around her and hugged her. “I love you so much” I whispered in her ear.
“I love you too Isa. More than words can describe” she whispered back.
She pulled back and smiled, her eyes glittering. She looked me up and down. “What?” I asked.
“You should wear white more often” she winked and stepped out.
“Did you... did you just hit on me?” I asked.
She laughed and walked out. I smiled and shook my head. This woman was... indescribable.
