Lots of fun
"This book is a page-turner. The action keeps moving at the right pace so that it never becomes boring, but it also never leaves you behind. Fun characters and a clever plot. I highly recommend it."
Thriller
"The book has me on the edge of my seat. It is thrilling, a mystery, has me feeling what the characters are feeling. I feel as if I am the detective. "
Absolutely worth reading
"No, the "The Transgenic Falcon" doesn't follow the plot of "The Maltese Falcon". However, it is hardboiled detective fiction and very good one. Detective Eamon Hunt deserves a 2nd volume, at least. I love the use of language, great style. I'll say no more, I recommend reading the book."

"Amazing book!! If you're into sci-fi this is the book. The way the author portrayed the future is nearly believable with the current advancements of technology. "
Impressive

"Perfekt. Classic and classy Detective-story with a glimpse at the near future only very few people will really like. Got me hooked in an instance and kept getting better by the chapter. "
Wow!
"I'm a fan of good murder mysteries, and those have gotten harder and harder to find. There are many novels which include a murder and include an attempt to determine who did it, but most of these are not genuine puzzles the way Ellery Queen, Agatha Christie, John Dickson Carr, and other classic mystery writers' stories were. Modern mysteries often have better characterization, better writing quality, lots of other good aspects to them, but they aren't a Challenge To The Reader which can be fairly solved. Transgenic Falcon is a good puzzle, but it's also a very well-written puzzle with interesting characters, clever writing, and some valuable but not hit-you-on-the-head-with-it moralizing about interesting social issues. The numerous typos and questionable punctuation bits are a minor annoyance, but only a minor one for me. It's not that hard to mentally convert build to built, remove that misplaced comma, replace that comma with a semi-colon or period, and make the other corrections to make the text read more correctly, and I enjoyed what the corrected text was saying so much that having to spend a second here and there to see that corrected text wasn't a big deal. (Although I do hope that for their next book the author gets someone to help with the proofreading.) I had a very enjoyable time reading this book. It starts with a good set-up and twist on the first page and proceeds very nicely from there, right down to a very satisfactory conclusion -- both to the mystery of who/how/why and to the problem of how Eamon will get Gen-Tech to accept his solution.. I very much look forward to reading future books by this author."

"Terrific! I loved the character of Eamon. I would definitely read a series based on him. Other characters were well written and all worked well together to move the plot in a compelling way. The world-building was a great riff on today's developing technologies. Some typos - it could use one more editing pass but that is a minor issue. All in all, a great read and I highly recommend it."
The Transgenic Falcon
"This is a fun romp, especially if you like both mysteries and science fiction. definitely needs a little more polishing in terms of proofreading, but it has good bones and the characters hope you and make you want to follow along through a pretty developed plot. I look forward to reading more from this author!"
I'll bet you can't figure it out before the end!
"Love the detective noir style of the story. I think anyone who likes mysteries or science fiction would enjoy reading it. Plus Eamon and Belida have some quite entertaining dialog!"
The Transgenic Falcon
"The Transgenic Falcon is an amazing book. The plot is well developed as well as the characters. Eamon Hunt was definitely my man. One could easily identify with him as well as the other characters. The story is catching with its twists and fir a moment there I was really torn as to whom was guilty of the crime. I loved the humor as it toned down the seriousness of the story. The story is also written in an easy to read style despite having a scientific background. There is nothing I did not like about the book and would have given it a full rating were it not for the minor typos. Adults who like crime and scientific discoveries may want to read this book. It will keep you glued to your seat. "

"This was a corker of a story. After just a few chapters I set aside the other book(s) I was already reading. After a few more chapters I was wanting to spend time with this book that I would have been spending doing other things. It's been a long time since I've stayed up later than I wanted to read "just one more chapter". This was due first to a writing style that included good dialogue, and a natural feeling of story progression. The plot/story itself was also very engaging, although the definite 'political leftist' sensibility may not work for everyone (I suspect the author knows that). I found the "world building" to be quite effective. The story is set in the near future, and the "new technologies" and life-styles were believable for a timeline of that nature. In some ways that has to be more difficult than designing a story around a world that is so far removed from our own that anything goes. It is,in part, the quality of this story that made the ending a bit disappointing. It wrapped up with a happy ending, bow on top. This didn't seem to fit with the nature of the lead characters, and definitely didn't fit with the potential for series sequels. I don't buy the idea that she is going to come to work for him. I'd expect her to start her own high end firm, competing with his, but maybe cooperating from time to time in particularly thorny cases; or crossing paths unexpectedly in such cases. Of course, that criticism has an upside, in that it means I'd like to see some more stories around these characters, in this world. Sadly, that last rating category on punctuation, grammar, spelling is....deplorable. Barely a sentence went by sometimes before there was a major 'typo'. They were too numerous and consistent to warrant listing here. Get someone to proofread!!!"
Fun to read, and well crafted
"I like a good mystery, and this one was written with style and great attention to detail, which is always a good thing in my view. Often when reading mystery stories, I can figure out "whodunnit" within the first few chapters. In "The Transgenic Falcon," I was kept guessing until the very end. Even though there were hints along the way, the misdirection was such that I never really knew until the big reveal who the murderer was. I enjoyed the tip of the hat to the great mystery styles and writers of past eras. The "noir" style is fun but not heavy-handed. The thoughtful imagining about near-future technology and the societal problems it might create is an intriguing bonus that does not detract from the story, All that said, I would strongly recommend that the writer get himself a good proofreader. It is sad to see a great moment marred by a typographical error. Still, I look forward to future works by this author, and possibly even a sequel to this book,"
The Transgenic Falcon
"This is a very enjoyable story. It is well written, the plot follows logically and keeps the reader guessing "who done it" until the end. The characters are engaging but slightly shallow and a bit stereotypical. However, the length of the story and large numbers of characters generally does not lend itself to deep character development based on my experience as a reader (I'm not a writer). A minor point: it is in serious need of good proof reading (diary not dairy, bear not bare, they're not their etc). To me, the most annoying mistakes were in some of the details of the biology (I'm a virologist). Unfortunately, this seems to be a universal fault in all of the fiction I have read. My suggestion is to be very vague in descriptions of scientific techniques since it's generally too difficult to explain these things to a lay audience and it's annoying to experts in the field when some of the details are wrong."
