Prologue

“Leaves piled everywhere, smothering the floors, smothering the trees, bushes randomly placed, vines and thorns within and around them, strung tree to tree, endlessly looped and dangerously placed beneath the foot, above the head, at the chest, at any height. Mines anywhere with the sudden sniper or spy lingering around on duty, wearing the best armour available within the area. Snares hidden in nature ready to strike. You see, nature disguises our biggest threats, it seeks our freedom, but it doesn’t seek comfort.

For all we know, the next step could be our last. A sudden step on a mine and the price you’ll pay is severe loss of limbs and a dangerously amount of blood being lost, or the most common cost of death.

A step into the sun could cause you to fall - a sniper could be anywhere, nestled in the trees, gun perched, directed at your head. Spies could take your information - intercepting a tree or two behind, feeding intel to the hostiles.

Nothing is safe. No one can be trusted. Not anymore. I give you my word, never adventure solo, but never trust your crew, though. You never know who’ll turn and put a bullet in you.

Take my advice. Your going to need it. You only get one shot, one chance to do this, you only get one life to do this. Make the most of it. Seek your freedom. We don’t have long left. I don’t have long left. I leave this message for you, in hope it’ll come in use. Use this wisely. I hope I assisted you in your intelligence. I hope I left behind an unforgettable legacy.”
