Chapter One

Sephy

My little car purred to a stop outside the small house. And my heart sank through the floor, get a grip you have no other choice! I berated myself over and over. His car, in all it's black glory parked neatly off to the side. Mocking me. Wiping away the thoughts I’d had. I had almost hoped it wasn't, I hoped he wasn't in. Forcing myself out of the car, I stood on the concrete feeling the cool spring air whipping around my bare arms, taking deeper and deeper breaths, terrified I was about to pass out.

As I finally made my way through the gate and up the path my heart pounded loudly in my chest, I feared any second it would burst out and I'd be left dying on the concrete. Blood pouring, actually that may be easier than what I was about to do. Right now I’d settle for anything other than this.

"Persephone!" It was the woman's shrill voice that almost sealed my fate, my heart stopped pounding and the world stopped spinning for a few moments until I found my resolve.

"Hey Jessie," I stammered, I had to run. My entire body was desperately trying to get away.

"You okay?" I nodded, speak Sephy speak!

"Erm yeah just returning Grays hoodie,"

“Why do you have it?” I swear for half a second a scowl appeared across her face. Instantly replaced by her normal unrealistic smile.

“He leant it to me in the club a few weeks back. Saved me from freezing to death on the way home.” Oh it was the least he could have done. I remember him clearly wrapping the hoodie around my shoulders, the smell of his cologne filling my nose as he did, his hands brushing against my neck.

"He's in the back, I'll take it if you want," she smiled, walking closer and taking the soft folded material from my hands. I nodded again. "You'll never guess what?" she grinned from ear to ear. My stomach twisting into knots as I shook my head, completely unable to process words. She stood directly beside me "I'm pregnant,"

"Ah," I groaned, my face almost certainly not the one she was expecting, "that's awesome news," I managed to muster, "Ive really got to go, see you," I ran down the path praying I’d get to my car before my legs gave in, but not before hearing the back gate swinging on it's hinges.
