Chapter 1
He made her incredibly nervous.
Even just standing in the doorway, observing him, made her pale hands shake slightly. She brushed some stray, dark hairs behind her ear as she continued to be mesmerized by his playing. He seemed to effortlessly glide his hands across the ivory keys, produce elegant music like it was nothing to him. Like he could do it with his eyes closed. She observed him from behind, holding her breath so as not to be an intrusion, enjoying observing him in such a natural state. Just as the song reached it’s peak, as the notes culminated together in wondrous climax, he halted suddenly, leaving her on edge--desperate for more. He dropped his hands off the piano and inhaled.
“Step inside. I won’t bite.”
Her eyes widened as she heard his invitation. She didn’t know this man at all, she knew this was a strange occurrence. Yet something pulled her inside, a yearning she hardly knew she had. Her Mary Janes took cautious steps into the room, her sock-clad knees on the verge of knocking together. She stood inside the room, but still very close to the door. The man let out a breathy chuckle, still not facing her.
“Come now. Why don’t you take a seat?”
