Welcome to the Stone World
I have been fighting for hundreds - no, thousands of years by now. Not verbally, of course, but I’ve been thinking. Thinking of all the things I could have said. Thinking of ways to beat him. But, to be honest, I barely remember what the argument was about in the first place. It might’ve been over a girl, or maybe even a simple sandwich, but what I do know is… that I will beat him!
Crack!
My thoughts froze for a second or two before coming back with something completely different. I thought to myself, what was that noise? And before long, there came another cracking sound, and then another, and another until I… could see something! It was a blinding white light. I felt a cool breeze touch my skin, and I felt hard stone fall off of me. I blinked a couple of times. I wiggled my fingers and toes. I was… free?
“I finally broke out!” I screamed at the top of my lungs in excitement, tears gathering at the corner of my eyes. I was ecstatic! I glanced around the area, attempting to find my hero who got me out of my stone prison, but there was nobody there. Well, nobody living, at least.
I was in a room made of wood. It was furnished modestly, but I could barely pay attention to any of that. What I was focusing on was the dozen of stone figures littering the place. These were people, but they were trapped, just as I was. Silently, I approached one of them and dragged a hand along their head, and I looked at their face.
“Wait. I knew this person. She went to school with me.” I glanced at all the other statues. My eyes grew wide. These were all people that I knew.
“So, you finally awake, four eyes.” spoke a familiar voice. I spun around and squinted at the figure before me. It was still a bit blurry, but I knew who he was. It was him. I could recognize that smug ass expression on his face from anywhere.
“Ken…” Before I could say anymore, he lowered himself to the floor and dashed at me! He thrust his hand forward, revealing a sharpened rock in his grip. I narrowly dodged it, but it forced me to bump into one of the statues. Panicked, I swiveled around to catch it. Wrapping my arms around the stone, I used all my weight to hold it, and I sighed in relief. Then I heard Ken chuckle arrogantly.
“I just joking, Hotaru! Lighten up a bit! You’re always so jumpy.” God, there was even smugness in his voice. I turned around, about to chew him out for almost stabbing me, but then I noticed another person had entered.
He was huge. He towered over Ken by several heads, and he was buffer than any man I’ve ever seen! His brunette dreads fell to his shoulders and his amber eyes were sharp and wary. On his shoulders was the pelt of a lion, and underneath was a torn robe. He didn’t wear any shoes, and in his grip was a gigantic spear made of sharpened stone. He peered down at Ken.
“Is this the man that knows agriculture?” The gorilla of a person spoke. His voice was not as deep as I thought it would be, but it had a kind of softness to it. Ken gave a curt nod of his head, and the man turned back to me. I froze under his gaze. This was a man who could kill me by just faking a punch. But then he gave me a warm smile and put out his hand for me to shake. I tentatively took it. I swear there was something about his smile, and Jesus, his grip was crushing my hand.
“Hello, Hotaru. I am Tsukasa, and welcome to the Stone world.”
