Chapter I

Sitting behind my desk, I look out the window staring into space. Think back to my childhood, I knew I was different. But my difference was something that made me great.

“Excuse me Ms. Smith your private 10:40 meeting is here.” Shana said standing in the doorway. “Okay just send him in,” I told him.

Pulling out an empty file with account papers, I set it down and open the file and sit a blue pen next to it.

Hearing the door open I look up and see Susan Riley. “Good morning Ms. Riley. Why don’t you have a seat and we can get started. Why don’t you tell me what you're looking for in a man or escort I will set aside a few files for you to choose from.” I explained folding my hands across m lap.

“Well, I want to start dating. I want a man who can cook, considerate of others, loves children, and someone who is not afraid to get his hands dirty.” She said listing a few things.

Looking through the pictures on my tablet I pick three different men and pull up their profile. “Well from your standards, I pick these three men. Their names are Bobby Michaels, Dylan Sonders, and Daniel Simmons. Bobby and Daniel both work with a hands-on charity, they volunteer at different homeless shelters, they can’t cook by they adore children. With Dylan I would say he is the perfect match. I can have my personal assistant set up a meeting with him if you like or you can sign the contact and get to know him through the app.” I gave her the suggestions after pointing the the file.

“I think I’ll sign the contract. Less people in my business.” She said after thinking for a few minutes. Nodding my head, I pass her the file and pen. Sitting back closing my eyes, I let out a deep through my nose and try to relax.

“May I ask you something Ms. Smith?” She asked causing my to open my eyes. Nodding my head I wait for her to ask the question. “Everyone calls you the dating expert, but you’ve never been seen with any gentlemen. Never for pleasure but for work. How come?” She asked sounding genuinely curious.

“Most men don’t want a woman who is well established in her life and can say she is financially stable. It’s not that I haven’t been trying. No man is just interested in a woman like me. I provide escorts and happily ever afters for all races, ages and all genders. And for now I am happy with that.” I explained with a smile.

Nodding her head she handed the file back and stood up. “Thank you for your time and service.” Sh said shaking my hand. “May you find love and happiness through the app Candlelights.” I said walking her to the door.

Going back to my desk I press the intercom button to call my secretary. “Shana how many more meetings do I have today?”

“That was your last one for the rest of the week. Your mother called and said to meet her Milo’s for lunch with her.” Shana told me.

“Thank you Shana, you can take the rest of the day off and tell James, I said hello.” I said and then turned off the intercom. Packing up my stuff, I take out my second outfit and go into my personal bathroom. Changing into a pair of black high waisted pants and a black bralette, putting on my favorite pair of black Giuseppe Zanotti. Letting my hair down I grab my jacket, purse, phone and keys.

Locking my office door, I went to the elevator, and pressed the button. Putting on my jacket, I get on the elevator and press the G button for garage. It stopped of the 5th floor and a man stepped on. “Hello there.” He said smiling at me.

Looking up I smile and nod my head. “So are you going to tell me your name or are you going to let me guess.” He asked smiling.

“Smith, Nola Smith.” I said shaking his hand. “Ah you are the great matchmaking. Tobais Grant. I was actually on my way up to set up an appointment with you. I have a very important charity event and I need an escort. Are you able to help me?” He asked smiling. “Mr. Tobais Grant, owner of the Grant Shipping and technology. How come a man like you can’t get a date for simple charity function.” I asked looking down smiling.

“Well if you must know, the woman I would usually take is out of the country. Charlotte Gins.” He told me giving her a name. “Oh that Charlotte Gins, she's come to my office every two weeks looking for a new rich man so she can spend all of his money. I believe you are the 5th man. I’ve told her after, this time I could no longer help her.” I explained.

The door opened and I walked out. Hearing his shoes behind me I figured he was following me. Turning around and stopped in front of him. “Mr. Grant, call tomorrow and set a time with my assistant.” I turned around and walked to my black camaro. “You miss understood me. I want you to be my date. Not just any escort would do. I already know your name is on the list. Why not go with me?” He asked grabbing my rm.

“I’ll think about it. When I make my decision I will contact you. Goodbye.” I got in my car and put the key in the ignition. Pulling out my parking spot, I drive out the garage and pullout of the garage. Driving to milo’s I park in front of the door and turn off the car. Going inside, I saw my mother in the back sitting in a booth. Walking to her, I hugged her and sit on the other side.

“Sorry for the wait. I was talking to another client. He wanted to talk about a possible date for the charity gala.” I explained unbuttoning my jacket. “Its fine. I ordered your favorite. Your father has been staying with your grandmother since she started Chemo. But with his work she might have to sell the house and move here.” She said looking at her cup.

“Mom you know nana isn’t gonna move here. She barley likes to spend holidays here. How is he gonna get her to move here?” I asked picking up sure out of the canister. She nodded her and explained “ Yeah, we have the best doctors and the chemo here is easier. She can do it in the house instead of constantly going to the hospital.”

“She won’t go for it. And honestly, mom He might as well hire an aid and come back for work.” I said picking at my food, that the waitress sat in front of me. “Enough about your grandmother. Tell me about the guy that came to your office.” she grabbed my hand and kissed my knuckles.

‘His name is Tobais Grant. Owner and CEO of Grant shipping and technology. Like I said, he wants me to be his date to the charity gala. I didn’t give him a definite answer. I mean he is very handsome. But most people would think I was with him for the money even though I make enough to last me a total of 6 life times.” I said taking out my phone. “Give him a chance baby. Every man you’ve been on a date with has never called you back for a second date. Maybe this is a good thing. Give me your phone. Give it to me.” she took my phone, and looked for something.

She put the phone to her ear and held her hand up. “Hello this is the mother of Nola Smith. I was calling to speak with your boss, Tobais grant. Is he in at the moment?” she asked. I tried to take the phone from her but she smacked my hand away and gave me a stern look.

“Yes he is let me transfer you.” she was quiet for the next few minutes.

“Hello? Mr.s Grant this is the mother of Ms. Nola Smith. I wanted to accept you on behalf of my daughter. She will be ready at 7:00 pm. Have a good day.” She said and stared at her with my mouth wide open. She handed back my phone and smile.

“Mom you just can’t do that. You just can’t call a man I barely know and accept his invitation when I haven’t given it any thought to it.” I said putting my phone away and crossing my arms.

“You need to find a man. I’m not getting and younger and neither are you. I want grandchildren before you can’t have any. Now, I would send him your address or I think he’ll find a way to get it.” she said smiling.

“That's not funny. Now I have to find a dress. I wasn't going to this gala. I had more important meetings to get too. You can't just take over my social life.” I said sitting back. “I can and I did. Live with it.” I’ll pay for lunch. And now we are going to go look for a dress you. Something elegant, yet it shows enough cleavage to make him drool.” she said throwing money on the table and dragging me out the booth.
