The Postman (Prologue)
“Please!!” he cried. All the colour was drained from the little boys face.
The man plastered a sick grin on his face contorting it into one of the most scary things a four-year-old can imagine. “No can do little one,” he said and licked his dry chapped lips. He then looked around the dark room.
The room was almost pitch black. The only source of light was from a window that was covered by planks being put over it. The loud claps of thunder and the faint sound of water dripping in another room indicated that there was a storm.
“don’t you want to have some fun?” he continued with an innocent tone, but his eyes told a completely different story. The sudden white flash of lightning illuminated the mans face and the child screamed.
Satisfaction. Greed.
That’s all it was in the man’s eyes. The boy trying his hardest to move away from the man. His small body quivering in fear.
“I want to go home” he pleaded. “Please~”
His face was a mess. A red nose. Red eyes. Snot running down his nose.
‘What a sight...’ the man thought to himself.
The man sighed and looked like he was genuinely considering letting the boy go.
It isn’t humane to harm a child. An innocent child with a long future ahead. A child whose tears should only fall for their broken toy. A child with a bright smile on his face instead of snot and tears. A child who should only giggle and squirm, legs kicking out and shrieking in delight as his parents tickled him endlessly.
These thoughts put a damper on his desires.
A shrill scream was all it took for that sick grin to reappear on the mans face.
