Chapter I

No one knew why the teacher was just glaring at them. She did do the crime, right? The court was confused as to why the young woman was angry at them. “Ms. Dale, you did write the letter, did you?” The female judge pushed her to answer, but the way the young woman was looking, it made the judge think that the police department had made a mistake. A very huge and costly mistake.

The young adult had no lawyer backing her. It was just her, alone on the stand. She was more than angry. She was also confused as to why she was in the courtroom. “Hey, bitch, answer the judge!” Someone shouted at her.

Julie Dale was very tempted to curse at the person who had spoken up, but she kept her tongue lashing to herself. She gazed down at the ground and after a while, she gazed up at the judge and the judge saw the broken look. “If I answer, can I please leave?” She asked.

“Of course, Ms. Dale. All you have to do is answer my question,” she spoke to Julie with a soft tone, now convinced that Julie was brought to the court on a mistake.

Julie started to spill. “I don’t know why I’m here. All I knew was that I was in bed sleeping and then the police came into my house and arrested me,” she spoke nothing but the honest truth and one of the police officers had flinched because she was telling the truth. They had barged into her home and arrested her on four accounts of murder.

The judge glared at the police officer that had flinched. “You guys must be idiots! You’ve arrested a frightened Pre-K teacher that doesn’t even know what’s the hell is going on,” the judge was fire hot. She couldn’t believe it. Julie Dale was the embodiment of an innocent person arrested for something she did not do. The judge couldn’t believe it! The police department is back to square one! She thought in anger and horror.

She had to change the decision of putting Julie in jail. “Will I be safe?” She asked the judge. The judge sighed as she knew what had to be done to ensure Julie’s protection.

“Alright, Julie, I will have to sentence you to the witness protection program,” when Julie heard those words, she crashed even more. The audience felt sorry for the young woman. When Julie noticed how they were looking at her, she growled at them.

“Don’t bother. You all were willing to let me rot in jail, even though I don't why the hell I'm being accused of a murder that I didn't even do," she hissed at the crowd and they knew that she was telling the truth. She knew nothing about the murders and yet, they were quickly willing to put her into jail, but the evidence obviously pointed to someone else because they took her prints and they came up with nothing with her prints. The judge then got Julie's attention by waving at her. When Julie noticed that the judge was giving her an apologetic gaze, she huffed to herself and she calmed down. "I'm listening," she gave the judge her undivided attention.

For all of her anger, she wasn't ready to die and she was willing to listen to the judge about the witness protection program, even though she didn't see the murders nor the murderer. "You will have to be in the witness protection program until the murderer is caught," the judge tells Julie.

"I didn't see the killer," she tells the judge and the woman nodded her head.

"I understand that, but they may try to come back to kill you," she tells Julie and the young woman wasn't down for getting murdered by the murderer that is being hunted down by the police. Does the killer know that I was arrested? She thought as she was wondering about the murderer taking a cool-down period in order to watch someone innocent get arrested for their crimes.

"I would like to thank the police for getting me laid from my job," Julie turned to the officers and they all gave her looks of guilt. Well, all except one officer. Julie thought that the officer was new. She looked like fresh meat compared to the other officers. She's new. She thought. The officer was a redhead young woman with chocolate eyes while Julie was a platinum blonde with dark eyes and her hair was in a boyish haircut style. The redhead had hair that reached her lower back and Julie thought that the young woman was too pretty. She's too pretty. She thought as she stared at the woman. When the police officer noticed that Julie was staring at her, she blushed and turned away. Julie wanted to roll her eyes at the young woman looking so embarrassed but she didn't as she knew that adults could have social anxiety. As Julie stared at the young woman, she wondered if the woman was on desk duty. "Excuse my French, but how the fuck will I get protected if they are supposed to be doing their job of catching the fucking murderer?" Julie questioned the judge and the judge noticed the way that the new police officer was wanting to leave the courtroom and she knew what the problem immediately was. She's supposed to be on desk duty, which means, she shouldn't be here right now. She thought.

"Why is Officer Grey here?" The judge demanded from the head police officer and he faltered under the woman's glare. Oh shit, she was telling the truth? He thought as he thought that the woman was trying to get away from the court, but he had now realized that she was trying to do her job. He started to sweat as he realized that Julie Dale was about to curse at him. "You are not doing your job correctly and it shows!" The judge was extremely angered as she knew that Julie being arrested was due to carelessness due to the head of the police department. This is one careless fucker. She thought as she glared over at the man. She couldn't believe how the man was still able to be over the police department with how many careless mistakes he had made in one day. The judge knew that was dangerous as being careless can get people killed but the head apparently didn't know that or maybe he did, he just didn't care.

"He should get fired," Julie couldn't hold back her tongue lashing as she glared at the man who claimed that he 'cared for the safety of the public'. The man flinched at how blunt Julie was being at the moment, but he knew that he wasn't doing his job properly as he was being overloaded with paperwork and field work alongside watching over the other officers, but he also knew that didn't excuse him to do a sloppy job. He knew what he should do at the moment, in front of the court. He took off his badge and dropped it on the floor. He then smashed it with his foot and the judge quirked her eyebrow as she watched the man destroy the badge.

"I resign from my position as head of the police department," he spoke proudly as he stared at every pair of eyes that stared back at him.
