Catching Her Heart Pt. 1

Summary

Oliver Wood sees a lot of his younger self in Hermione Granger when she appears at Hogwarts for her first year. He takes it upon himself to look after her like a big brother. But when he leaves Hogwarts, things become a tad more difficult, not only because of the distance, but because as their friendship continues, he finds his feelings toward her change. Hermione Granger couldn't believe it when she first got her letter from Hogwarts. She had always had a hard time making friends and fitting in. Maybe that would change in this new world that she was about to enter. She could only hope. Her past seemed to follow her however, as she met The Boy Who Lived that she'd learned about in her reading of the world she was about to enter, on the Hogwarts Express, until the first letter arrived... What happens as their friendship develops? Only time will tell. Find out in Catching Her Heart!

HELLO LOVELIES!!

I want to thank ALL of you for sticking with me on this story! It has been a LONG road.

This story is now, in total, with Part 1 & Part 2, roughly 130 chapters in length!

It has been bumpy due to health issues and things in my own life as well as my family members lives that have taken me away from this story.

Due to those health issues it took a year to get back to this story. I just COULD NOT write it how I intended originally because I didn’t want to change other peoples views, causing them to question their beliefs and go through what I did with cognitive dissidence. I suffered Massive cognitive dissidence after these health issues, because of what I was raised to believe. It was NOT a fun experience, and was in fact something that I would not wish upon anyone.

That said, it took me a year to even figure out how I was going to continue this story without having things in here like I’d originally planned, and I WAS working toward that conclusion.

Then something unexpected happened.

First, my software program wasn’t doing what I needed it to do, so I had to change programs. This has allowed me to begin moving this story into my new program. I have been getting all my notes and everything in one place that even works with other stories without rebuilding all my notes and information every time I write a new story in the Wizarding World universe.

Second, the narrative of the story grew. I have been able to develop a PG version of the story that will cover three titles. I have also been able to expand into Adult Content versions, and the idea now spans a series of 6 titles where you, the reader can choose how you want to finish the story with the level of spice you get.

There will also be a little surprise for readers. Five of the six books centre around Oliver Wood and Hermione Granger. The sixth book in the series, is actually the second in the Adult Content version, allows for two other characters to shine in an unlikely pairing. I had started this story believing that it was a stand-alone, but I’ve found that it isn’t. It uses the same timeline and events that my Oliver and Hermione stories use, so it just fits into the series.

I’ve had to come to a decision while doing this, and that is where this note comes in.

I will NOT be taking down Part 1 or Part 2. They will be here for people to keep enjoying.

However, this transfer from one software program to the other has allowed me to do something that has been on my mind since the very beginning and the original idea. I wanted to build the world around Hermione Granger.

I wanted to deep dive into the canon for her character. I wanted to give her more backstory, really make her stand out as to who she is in the Harry Potter books that J. K. Rowling gave us. Honestly, before I came here to Wattpad and read the two Oliver/Hermione stories from Bookworm1993 that got the ball rolling for me on this story, I REALLY hadn’t liked Hermione as a character.

I just couldn’t imagine that Hermione, being as smart as she was said to be, would stay with someone like Ron who seemed to be a waffling, abusive type. This really didn’t sit well with me that she would do that, and even J.K. Rowling said they would have needed counselling/therapy.

Now, because I’ve been able to really deep dive into her character, and was inspired by Bookworm1993′s stories pairing her with Oliver Wood instead of Ron Weasley, I’ve grown to love her. It has been so EXCITING for me to do this and see how things would work and SO many ideas have come of it that I want to do it justice.

So, this version...

While yes, it is PG, will be closed. The story itself won’t be abandoned though, never fear. I am presently setting it up to do an expansion on the content that I’ve presented in this version. This version will be closed to allow me to focus on the rewrite of the story. Doing that allows me to do some more world building not just Hermione and Oliver’s characters, but around Hogwarts, and the Wizarding World itself. I hope that doing this world building maybe iron out some plot holes and questions J.K. Rowling left me with despite all the films and books and video games that have expanded the world.

I want to take this story for what it is... A story where secondary and minor characters to Harry come forward into the spotlight with their own stories and background that we’ve not seen, but could be plausible as they were just hinted at in the books and films.

So yes, while this version is being closed, it is for good reason. Even if I start where I am now on it, going into Order of the Phoenix, and start adding in my new additions, they won’t make sense in the long run.

So I am going to do the only thing I can really see myself doing. Closing out this version in both parts and doing my rewrites and editing from Chapter 1.

This doesn’t mean I am going to disregard or delete everything I’ve ALREADY done. It just means I have to weave it together a little differently to add more world building around Hermione and Oliver. They ARE the main characters after all — as well as world building that fills in the timeline that is plausible for things that happen in later stories.

I appreciate you being here and reading this story and enjoy hearing how much you all love it. Seeing your feedback really makes my day. I must ask you to hang on some more because I want to make this a better story, not just for me, but for all of you, too.

In rewriting this story and making these additions, it actually brings the story closer to its originally intended form, but without all the cognitive dissidence to be dealt with. I REALLY am fond of where I was originally taking the story, and would like to share that vision with you.

Let Magic and Shadow know what you thought about this chapter!
