"I would like to start by saying this..I've read alot of m×m stories from many authors but amateur wrote it so realistic it became a powerful story to me itself. Ryan being afraid to come out of the closet just needed the right person like Dan, his coach to show him its ok to be who you are. To love yourself by accepting even if you're gonna be judged everyday with words or etc. Ryan is shown that no matter through his journey to come out as the person he is, that every step that was taken with Dan by his side it was easier to finally say " I'm gay and it's time to let it shine through". Even coming clean for Dan wasn't easy yet when Ryan stood proud of himself for all those steps he took along with the accomplishments in his life, he had realized nobody judged him. They accepted him with love. In that way it helped Dan come clean too with his wife...even if she became a scorned woman in the end. These two got a start of something good and more. I would recommend anyone to read Swimming Upstream.I enjoyed it and was worth the read. Openness.Acceptance.Shamlessness.Tolerance. Respect...because this story covers all those words."
