chapter 1

We start off our story in a small town in the outskirts of Atlanta, Georgia. The living conditions were never pleasant here, therefore the only place bearable for anyone is in the woods. That’s where the “3 musketeers” lived, or so they called themselves that. The meaning is quite self-explanatory because they’re a group of 3 teens, and have been inseparable since elementary school. Anyways, it is in the midst of september, meaning it is a bit chilly outside, therefore, fall has let out its wrath. The 3 kids we speak of go by Maria, William and Michelle.

“Hello my fellow friends, what did you make on the french quiz today?” Michelle asks the two walking up to them as they were walking out of their highschool to walk home together. “Um, I made a, hold on a sec’, ou! I made a 86" Michelle nods at William, then focusing her eyes on Maria. “Not bad Wiliam, Maria what did you get?” Maria nervously laughs, “Do you really wanna’ know?” The girl simply nodded in response. “Well, if you insist, I made a 75” she held her head low in shame as her two friends put their arms around her shoulders. “Me and Will can give you free tutoring-” William cut her statement short. “We will not give out free tutoring, there must be a price, there always is” Maria pipped in, “I’ll buy the food next time we go to Chik-fil-a.” Two mischievous looks were given towards Maria, sending the lot of them into a fit of laughter right afterwards.

So, they head towards Chik-fil-a, Maria’s treat, and started to study some French.

“Okay, Maria, repeat after me, Je”

“Je” Maria said

“Ma”

“Ma” Maria mimicked back

“Pelle”

“Pelle” Maria said, saying the last word of the phrase

“Je ma pelle”

“Je ma- I GIVE UP!” Maria says out of frustration.

“Do you know what Je ma pelle means in French anyways? The key to doing different languages and being bilingual is knowing how to pronounce the word and know its meaning” William states as Maria jots down some pointers for later use. “Well, it’s just a hunch of bullshit if you ask me” The other two laugh at their friends ‘polite’ words. “It’s not bullshit Maria, you’re just not understanding it like thing 1 and thing 2 right here” Michelle looked offended. “If anything, I’m thing 1 and you William, are thing 2" he sucked his teeth. “As if” An eye roll was received from Michelle. “Okay Cher Horowitz” Maria held up her hand to signal the lot of them to shut up. “You two, quit, if anything, you’re tweedledee and tweedledum.” The three of them laughed and finished up so little of what progress they made today. Hopefully, that studying would go to use and bump up Maria’s grade.
