The Sun, The Moon and Endymion
Somewhere along the vast space and time. The moon loved the sun, and this made her shine the most among the stars for she adored him more than anyone else in their domain ever could.
However one day she realized that even if she spends eternity gazing at the sun, He will never look her way for his gaze was always on the land below. In her eyes the Sun loved nothing but everything in that land.
A strange curiosity or should we say jealousy struck the moon. She wonders why and what’s on the land below that her dearest find enchanting. So she, who once never looked at that land, decided to go down to see, and to feel and try to understand why the sun loved that land so much.
As she go down she chose a river to avoid human eyes and avoid the gaze of the sun. For the Sun usually looks at the affairs of his favorite humans. But to the moon’s surprise, there was a person near the river. There she found lovely Endymion.
Endymion, who always look up at the night sky to marvel upon the moon and the stars. Endymion saw in the river near the tree, as he come near her he thought that maybe this girl is a tree nymph or water nymph for there was something mysterious about her being. He asked her name but no answer, for she knew nothing of the human tongue. All she understood at that moment is that in front of her is a beautiful being. A little bit like her and a little bit like the sun but mysteriously different in a way she cant fathom.
She looked and tapped into his mind only to see images of Endymion gazing up the sky and admiring the moon. She smiled like a child who discovered something wonderful for the first time. To her Endymion is like a mirror of her heart, for she loved the Sun and gazed only at him. Endymion he gazed at her and admire her glow and the stars she arranged for the Sun to notice.
Endymion upon seeing her, liked her smile and her eyes but he has no clue that she was the moon who he always gazed upon on the night sky. To him he was just a maiden of a child’s mind and a child’s heart so he helped her out of the water and teach her everything in his domain.
She catch on quick for she had always been bright. She had to be for she wants to be always the one beside the sun. However there with Endymion, she felt her light is enough and need not gaze upon the Sun anymore and no longer care if at some point the Sun would love her back too. For her, Endymion is her reality and down below is where she wants to spend her eternity.
But of course, as she is so bright she is well aware that she does not belong to the land below and she has to go back to their domain. She also knows that she has to erase Endymion’s memory. (Which in Greek mythology, is considered as Celine casting a sleep spell on Endymion every time she visits him on earth)
The moon could touch his mind, but not his heart nor his soul. A part of him will remember, and the thing is even if she could alter his heart she wont, for she want him to remember her too even if in a form of a vivid dream.
The moon, well aware of her true home, erased Endymion’s memory and went back like she was never gone. For she is time’s friend and before going she was reassured that a blink of an eye in their domain is already several days on the land below.
Time also told her to never return for the Sun would most likely know and advise her to never return and remember her love for the Sun. For time is wise, but the moon blinded by love has no intention to listen. She thinks that the Sun would not know, but little did she know that he already knows.
