Chapter 1
Natsu
On a bright sunny day in July, I stop by Lucy’s house. I debate whether or not I should knock on her door. “She is probably still mad at me for breaking up with her…” I mumble to myself. As I start to walk away, her front door opens.
I hear a small gasp from behind me. I turn around slowly. “N-Natsu… I-I uh… I didn’t expect to see you here…” Lucy says, speaking softly.
I sigh heavily. “I… I uh… I came here to tell you that… I’m sorry and… I miss you Luce…” I say, blushing more than I thought I would. Her eyes widen, and I see her cheeks fill with color.
“I-I… N-… I gotta go…” She stammers, pushing herself past me. Our shoulders brush against each other, and I feel that our connection has been lost for good.
I look down, tears brimming my eyes. What have I done..? I’m such an idiot.
I shouldn’t have broken her heart.
I walk away from her house after I look at it once more, thinking about all of the good times we had in there, all of the times I had dinner cooked for her when she came back from a mission, all those nights where she would call me because she needed a shoulder to cry on, all those Christmas’ and Valentine’s Days… all of those great times we had… gone…
A few tears escape my eyes as I try to hold back the tears, trying to keep the flood gates from breaking.
As I head towards the guild, I get lost in my thoughts. I snap out of my thoughts when I bump into someone. “Oh I’m so-” I look up, but my words get caught in my throat as I see Gray in front of me, tears streaming down my face.
Gray looks at me confused, then he looks at Macao, who is right next to him. “What’s wrong, Natsu?” Macao asked.
I sniffle, wiping away the tears as I act like I’m fine. “Nothing. Just saw a puppy the was in the middle of the road, dead.” I say. Gray knows that I’m lying right through my teeth.
Gray looks at Macao. Macao nods, and he waves goodbye.
Once Macao is out of sight, Gray looks at me. “Natsu… What’s going on?” He asks, seeming like he is genuinely concerned.
I look at him, tears brimming my eyes once more. “Lucy left…” I say, starting to sob. I hang my head low, knowing this is my fault.
I feel his hand land upon my shoulder. “Natsu… It’s not your fault… Lucy left because she wanted to, even if that meant leaving without you knowing… It was her choice. She never could understand that you were going through a lot when you found out that her dad killed your mom…” He says. I sniffle and I wipe away my tears.
“I… I gotta go…” I say, turning away from him. I run as fast as I can without using my powers, which is still pretty fast.

When I get home, I go to my room and I lock the door.
I sit on the floor for hours, crying. “God dammit!” I yell, slamming my fists against the floor. I end up crying myself to sleep, curled up in a ball on the floor.
