Chapter 1

“I now pronounce you husband and wife, you may kiss your bride.” The entire room erupted in cheers and claps as Brent swept Lily off her feet and kissed her passionately. My heart swelled at the sight of them , a love so pure, finally united after so many trials.

Lily was my best friend since 1st grade, she met Brent when we were in high school, it was love at first sight as some would say and now nearly 5 years later they were married. Brent is an amazing guy, smart, handsome and loyal, what more could a girl ask for.

The loud cheers brought me back to reality as I saw both Brent and Lily walking down the altar, away from our sights. The wedding planner began barking out orders and everyone involved in the wedding team began shuffling around and moving towards the beautifully decorated white tent in the middle of luscious acres of green land in Aspen,Colorado.

I was born and brought up my entire life in St. Cloud, Minnesota. My parents and the rest of my pack have lived their entire lives and they still do, my head turned towards the ever doting couple, their relationship was one that I would always look up to and deep down in my heart always yearn for.

“Alethea!” I heard Brittany the wedding planner yell, I averted my eyes to her and moved in her direction. Everyone was assembling to make an entry into the tent, I was the maid of honour and I had to enter with the best man, who was Brett’s childhood friend, Chuck.

We stood besides each other hand in hand, the biggest smiles plastered on our faces as we danced our way into the tent. Soon everyone made their way in along with the bride and groom, mostly everyone from my small pack was here except some of the kids and the elders.

The night passed on and everyone was now dancing to the slow music with their respective other, I saw mostly all of my childhood friends dance with their mates and I couldn’t help but feel a bit jealous, I’m 22 years old, 23 in a months time and I still hadn’t found my mate.

It was nothing to be ashamed of , but it was something that kept nagging me at the back of my mind. I was all done with college, I want to be a teacher for small kids, and that was something I have been wanting to do for a very long time.

“Thea!” Lily came running up to me and met me half way in a warm hug. “I’m so happy for you lils” I said with my eyes burning with tears, she too had tears in her eyes , but before she could say anything a voice spoke up, “I hope you’re not making my bride cry there Thea..” Brett came up from behind her with a cheeky smile on his face. I acted shocked with my hands up in the air,”I wouldn’t dare.”

We were laughing when this smell wafted right past my nose, it was divine, so earthy and musky, that it had my wolf whining from within , “Brett.” A deep baritoned voice spoke up from behind me, my spine stood upright just at his sound. My wolf was going wild inside me now and demanding that I turn around, and so turn around I did.

My eyes met with a navy blue clad chest, as I made my way up past his prominent Adam’s apple and his strong jawline to his reddish plumpy lips and slightly crooked nose and finally settling on his gorgeous forest green eyes.

‘Mate.’ My wolf howled in joy, and in the same moment his eyes flood with shock and his body so stiff, a moment of joy and pure happiness passed through me, I found my mate.

“Alpha Kingsley”

Those two words shook me to my core, all the happiness I was feeling drained away and my eyes looked at him once again, and the familiarity hit me hard.My heart began racing and my legs felt wobbly, with the loud music , my wolf howling in my head and this gorgeous specimen just standing there in what seemed like fury, had me feeling sick.

I need to leave. So, without a second thought I sprinted from the tent and out into the fields. I ran as fast as my heels clad feet would let me, in the dark I fell over what felt like a huge stone and yelped as I met the ground, my foot turning in an awkward angle.

But the pain was nothing compared to what I was about to feel as I thought about my future with my ‘mate’. I could feel the hot tears flowing down my face soaking my beautiful gown. ‘Why Moon Godess? Why?’

Alpha Rex Kingsley was the alpha of one of the most largest and most ruthless packs of all of North America and not to mention went into a crazy killing spree after the death of his mate 2 years ago.

How was this even possible? It must be a joke, it simply must be.
