The long corridor
If you are waken from the dead, can you still feel?
Her feet feels so light, they are almost floating. She takes a few more daring steps, slow but steady. The only sound is the low noise from the ventilation. The corridor is only lit up by the weak lamps in the roof, providing a dramatic light. The corridor is actually more like a tunnel, the walls are tunnel-shaped and grey. Her breathing is controled, although from her mouth.
As her feet keeps taking her towards the door, her heart races. This is it, the proof that she actually is alive.
When that thought hits her, tears start rolling down her cheeks. Is it tears of joy or tears of fear? It’s probably a mixture of both. She knows she has been in that tunnel before only, her memories are a mess. Why does she remember this corridor so well?
Now she walks faster, her curiosity taking over. Not long left now. Now she’s almost running. Curiosity, fear. Fear, curiosity. Is it all a dream? Can you dream if you are dead?
She reaches the door. Her hand slowly reaches the doorhandle but then, suddenly, she stops. She remembers something. She's lying on a bed, she has a pain in the stomach and is barely able to breath. A kind but worried face towers over her. It is a beautiful woman with long red hair. Her freckles covers her entire face and her eyes are red from crying. The woman opens her mouth, she's saying something.
"You where..."
The voice dies and the rest of her sentence is gone. Is she what's waiting behind the door?
