Justice for Few
Justice.
A word commonly used and just as commonly abused.
Justice for all! No, wait, that can’t be right.
How is there justice when we are forced to fight?
Fight for our right to simply be alive,
Fighting while our government thrives off of our pain.
“Punishable by fine” just translates to “legal for the rich.”
We fight to think and speak, it feels as if we have to fight for our right to blink.
Why? Because blinking can be used as an excuse,
An excuse to degrade us, rape us, and shoot us.
Our heads are spinning because we have to argue for the right to love.
Justice for few, not all.
Money makes you untouchable, invincible, innocent.
Your clothes, your race, your gender, can and will be held against you in the court of law.
They will take and take and take, not caring if we break.
We are the ones who bust our backs for a country that doesn’t even claim us,
We are not citizens, we are profit.
This country is wrought with greed.
Killing off its own people.
They don’t know what it’s like to constantly fight a battle.
A battle that’s been waging on for centuries, a war we are losing.
A fight for equality.
Because every day a mother loses her son to a cop that misfired.
Every day a father loses his daughter to a wandering eye.
They don’t understand to constantly fear for our safety.
Where is our justice?
So, it was just a free form rant that I had to get out of my head. I think about this a lot.
