Chapter 1: Clipton 2077

What is a Rift Jumper? Heck how the hell did I become one in the first place? All I know is that the moment I started dozing off, I get a lucid dream that's... too lucid. I enter this dream where I definitely know I'm not in the world I am in now. Here's one:

"Wynn, you ready to get Mendez? The fucker's been dodging his phone calls." Wei Shen, a familiar friend of mine I met online stood before me. He looked like a mix of Hitman and Mass Effect if their worlds collided.

"Wei?" I confused him as much as I was confused. "What is this place?"

"Dude, I told you shouldn't smoke that nightshine shit. Anyway, Mendez should be up in the 3rd floor."

After my senses were in grasp, I discovered it to be night while we trekked inside a worn-out building in search of Mendez. Apparently I was holding a data-pad containing Mendez's information.

"Carlos Mendez, ex-gangster now turn to frequent gambler. 37 years old, wife left him and has a daughter that's MIA." I said, and the way I said it felt second nature as if I've been doing this a hundred times.

"Eh, thought you read the briefing already?" Wei Shen noticed my doubtful look towards everything around me. "And, are you okay, Wynn?"

"Y-yeah... I just couldn't get some sleep and this coffee I drank recently is pretty strong." I lied but I remained adamant in keeping this visage. He shrugged it off and kept quiet till we made it to the 3rd floor standing before Mendez's supposed room.

An old lady approached us who I felt was also the landlord. "Thank the heavens the police is here." She took a breath of relief noticing our presence before the daunting apartment. By that I meant, the noises were loud inside coming from the T.V and Mendez's laughing his ass off.

"Surprised you came 5 minutes earlier even though you said you needed 10 minutes." She said, hinting something I'm trying to figure it out.

"Yeah... 5 minutes is all we need." Wei said to me in a hurried tone, then immediately kicking the door open.

"The fuck you think you're..." Mendez caught attention of us entering his room. Honestly, I still have no idea why we're here but I'm playing along as we go. "Oh shit!"

Mendez pulled out pistol and started firing at us prompting us to take cover. I realized it wasn't the modern times when the pistol fired heat laser that nearly burned my face.

"Wynn, he's getting away through the window!" Wei called out to me behind a cover.

"I'm on it!" I said to him without hesitation. I ran through the living room dodging Doritos and beers making it to the window. I exited the window out in the balcony to see Mendez climbing towards the roof...

Ku_Rolet: The novel was good, and I really enjoyed reading it. I love the leads and their bond, but I have one question that confused me. How could Tristan have been dreaming about his mate since he was a child if Omara was already mated to someone else before him? If Kyle had accepted Omara, would Tristan ne...
