Prologue
Being a wolf isn’t all it’s made out to be. It’s actually a lot better, but in some ways for a special girl, it’s also a lot worse. Yes, there are restrictions, rules that have been pressed onto this unique species by society. It’s not at all fair for them, but most wouldn’t choose to be anything different. Even if they could change, you’d never find a wolf who wanted to be full human.
Not even Indigo. Indigo Bexley Wolfwind, daughter of a family of nobles that are favorites of the High Council. Her father, Elwin, is an esteemed wolf chamalyn; an expert in his species and general human studies. What’s a wolf chamalyn you ask? Elwin could tell you the entire history of the species, but since he’s not here at the moment, this a more simple definition:
Chamalyns are a rare species of human, who shares the ears and tail features of an animal. For example, a cat chamalyn would have cat ears and a cat tail. The look is similar to something we Earthians often draw or dress up as, but this isn’t the only feature they have. They can also transform into their animal if they harness their chamalyn magic.
This might not be making much sense to you. Maybe you first need to hear the story. The story of a 15-year old wolf chamalyn named Indigo on a planet called Naltin.

“It’s time for school you two!” a voice called from the kitchen.
I didn’t look up from my studies until I felt a light tap on my shoulder. It was Louis, his deep green eyes looking down on me. “Come on Indigo,” he yawned in his usual quiet voice. “Your mom says it’s time to get to school.”
I set the book I was reading, Mythical to Earthians, on the coffee table in front of us and we rushed to the kitchen where my mom handed us both a box full of lunch.
“Thank you.”
“Thank you ma’am,” Louis nodded to her before rushing towards the door. I was about to take off after him when my mother grabbed my shoulder.
“Let me do your hair before you go,” she exclaimed, tying the top of my wavy brown hair into a small light blue pony-tail. Of course, I should have expected as much from my mother who was a fashion designer at the local studio. “It looks beautiful now that you’ve cut it though.”
“Okay, okay, but I have to go!” I complained, brushing my shoulder-length hair out of my face. Louis snickered and I glared at him. I thought my hair looked beautiful after getting it cut. Louis said it looked funny and fluffy though, and I wanted to hit him with my book.
She released me and we were off, rushing to the intineranter station down the street. “It’s your turn,” I huffed with exhaustion when we arrived.
“I left my card at home,” Louis shrugged.
I sighed and fumbled for my key card. It wasn’t in my pocket. I stomped on the ground in frustration making Louis jump and trip. Simultaneously, a tall dark figure stepped through the gold mirror in front of us and Louis fell right into him, pushing them both back through the portal.
I stood, a little stunned for a moment. “Louis!” I yelled into the mirror. “Louis, you klutz.” It’s not like I could go after him without my keycard. Even if I did have it, the intineranter would never tell me where they went. “This is a disaster…”
“Are you in need of assistance?” I turned to see a boy about my age with bright green eyes and a cloak over his head. He smiled at me.
“Wow, my knight in shining armor,” I said unenthusiastically.
“I prefer hero in disguise,” he laughed as he slid his cloak off to reveal fluffy black ears sitting with short, scruffy blonde hair. He slipped a key card from the black cloth and then tossed the cloak to me. “Put it on, it’s getting chilly.”
“You’re… you’re-”
“Like you? Yup.” He swished his black tail as he put the key card into the portal box. “Us wolves have to stick together in these parts. So, where will I be escorting you to m’lady?”
“Well you’re old fashioned, aren’t you?”
“Not unlike you Ms. Wolfwind.”
“You know who I am?” I gasped.
“The pure white wolf ears, the pure white tail,” he motioned as he spoke. “Who else could you be?”
The intineranter spoke through the box before I could reply. “This is the intineranter of the Spokenglutsh Portal System. Where would you like to go?”
“Wolfwind Academy,” he said confidently. I had just finished hesitantly slipping the soft cloak before he nudged me into the portal and I stumbled out onto the other side.
Hello my gorgeous readers! I love and appreciate each and every one of you, and I hope you enjoyed this small piece of the prologue! Remember to eat healthy, meditate, and keep reading!
Try to understand that I have a lot of other things to do, so updates will be slow. As I go further with the book I may update previous chapters. Though I’ve spent 5 years developing this book, the writing is still iffy for me. I appreciate all kinds of feedback, so feel free to leave some comments. :3
