Prologue
Night never fades in the world. It has turned into a dark and heinous place where nature itself prosecutes light. A world shattered, reassembled and turned into a living nightmare. The remnants of man are now scattered far and wide with predatory eyes watching from outside the safeties of high walls or brilliant luminance. Oases of light predetermine where man will lay claim to their safe havens. There are more places where light never shines than where darkness can fade. In this world the minds of the people trapped in the endless night are the source of the very nightmares that keep them behind stone walls and locked doors. Now fear is the reality from which night terrors are born. The people keep to themselves and a traveler’s life is often cut short. Stories of the past are today's fairy tales and legend and the fairy tales and legends of the past are today’s stories. The rule of the world is now a world without fiction. This is the remains of the Calamity. When mankind's greatest fears became reality and we are unprepared for the coming darkness. Our heroes failed to stop the endless night. The world twisted so that even the heroes of the past now lay waste to the future's hope.
