I shouldn’t have followed him home
That kid that's smaller then the other kids in our grade scares me. I don't know why, it's just the way he walks with his hands always staying very stiff only moving when he writes. The way his body stays stiffer than a cactus in the sun. His pale skin also creeps me out. Everything he does is just scary, even the other kids in 7th and 8th think he is scary. There is just something about him that's not right.
“You know? Have we ever seen his parents,” my friend, Martin, also known as Matty, questioned?
“Your right!” We had started to come up with theories and questions wondering about him.
He always seemed different. He wore a black jacket with a few scratches on the side. The letter “S” was carved into the back with a blue pen making it almost invisible. We all were heading toward the great hall, except he was walking a bit faster.
It was Friday so maybe he wanted to go home faster. Matty watched as “The character” almost ran into Anthony Lopez. His jacket just brushed up against Anthony’s shoulder.
He ran right into the great hall and on to a seat. He seemed different today. I didn’t want to care but I did. There was something off about him.
I grabbed the only thing they had, a carton full of popcorn chicken, something I never really cared much about.
“Hey, Zack? Do you think we should follow him home,” Matty asked.
“What! Were do you come up with these things,” I exclaimed while I passed my popcorn chicken over to him. “And why would we go anyway?”
“I don’t know, to see if he’s human.” Matty insisted we should go to his house.
“Matty, I’m not going, I want to but I’m not,” I finally told him. Something in his eyes told me I should go, and that something was going on with the “character” in the jacket.
I soon followed Mattys gaze toward the jacket kid.
“What are you looking at!”
“Oh you scared me. Don’t do that,” Matty scholded, after he threw a popcorn chicken down his throat and washed it down with his water.
“Are you sure you don’t want to go?”
“You know what, I will go,” I eventually answered.
“Really, really,” mattys eyes grew bigger in size. Matty then started on the plan and how we were going to get their.
“Alright, it’s time to go,” Mr. Ashby said while walking down the isle of kids trying to get up. Matty, hearing this went over the plan one more time.
“Remember we follow him without being noticed,” Matty said for what I think was the thirtieth time. “Okay, okay, I get it, we have to be creeps.”
“Exactly!” Matty looked excited. We saw him walking fast toward the gate so we followed. He crossed the street and waited for the train to pass. That gave us time to catch up to him. He jerked his head back and his emerald eyes cut into our souls. We looked away as fast as possible to appear as if we were going home.
The train passed and he was waiting for another one. We waited behind one of the buildings right outside of brophy. We found two bikes and we took them when the train he was on started. We followed and when the train stopped we had time to catch up to it.
Over a few hours maybe 2, we made it two his stop. “Cmon,” Matty whispered to me.
“I can’t believe you brought me out here,” I said to him.
We looked inside the window, the jacket kid was ripping his face apart. The skin of his cheeks melting into his hands. All of it fell to the floor and the jacket kid rose taller. He had wrinkles all down his face and arms. White hair covered his face and the sides of his head. His arms were skinny. His belly flopped over his small belt.
“Your telling me the kid in the jacket was a seventy year old man!” Matty screamed at the top of his lungs.
The man looked toward the window at us his emerald eyes once again cut into us but this time the cut was deeper.
