Autumn 🍂

Down French Hill street, the rackety of an empty can rattled as it rolled against the uneven mapped out floorings. The warmth of the sun was above 45° and the garden of dried brown leaves blown across in circles, carried the eerie feeling of neediness. His heart banged twice against his once sturdy rib cage, aspirin taken to calm its cries ended up futile, in a turmoil of pain and suffering. His tongue reeked of alcohol and his lips of the cigarettes he's burned in her wake, his eyes ached from the sleepless nights, hoping she'd still leave a call.

'Mr Cameron, it's Mr Thomas. What you're going through is just a phase, why don't you turn up at my office within the week let's have a session?' The voicemail reminded him each time he mutter the strength to push down the button. 'Honey, it's mum. It's gonna be okay. I've arranged with Mr Thomas, he's a great therapist. You need someone to talk to. I love you.' The memory of her newly wrinkled fifties face stuck to his mind with a smile up her once energetic jaw.

How could anyone tell the gravity of emptiness 'he' felt? There's a reason why it's called 'he', because only 'he' felt the pikes passed through his heart each time he remembered her. Only 'he' bled endlessly every time he heard the news that she's happy with another. Only 'he' is lost of words to describe what his heart has to say to her.

But others, they're all a wreck. He knows that. Mr Thomas still visits the pub down Cherry Creek on Saturdays with a glint of hope. Mum still prays for the love Dad once had for her. So, how can you possibly fix a puncture wheelie when you're a trainwreck? You all are a line of coach without an engine, he's just an abandoned car by the side of the road, whom fungus has taken a liking to.

Please turn a blind eye to his problems, the same way he's turned a blind eye to the delicate scorch of the sun.

'Hey June, wait for me!'

'Catch me if you can, Billy!'

Across the red carpet of heated tar, over to the other side of the sidewalk, he gazed upon the little boy and girl making merry, happily at the moment. They do not know that all they have with one another is here, but they live the present like there's no tomorrow and they smile widely like there's no yesterday.

Tsk! Tsk! Tsk! Tsk! Tsk! Tsk! Tsk! Tsk! Tsk!

A battalion of sprinklers ambushed him, letting out their ammunition in all directions they found fit. The icy touch of the water go down, underneath his sweatshirt as pellets were refreshing and reviving. Only if the world could be as quiet for a second, he'd hear the hushed whispers of steam escape out his burning flesh.

'Get off my lawn you freak!!' An elderly yelled out at him.

His mind drifted back to reality and his eyes glared downwards, on the evergreen blades of nicely trimmed grass. The fresh smell of tilled earth mixed with the pulp of newly injured petiole dance into his nostrils was mesmerizing.

'Didn't you listen to a world the ol lady said, boy?!'

A man appeared through the front door. The cork of his double-barrel completed the certainty in his authoritarian voice.

Quickly, he leapt out the lawn and unto the sidewalk, the pitch-black nostrils of the gun glare down at him from the porch frightened his every joint.

'That's it! Keep walking, else a head full of shells is how you'd like to go back to wherever you came from!!'

With every stride, he took, the image of the stern duo up on their patio drew nigh to a vanishing point, the same way the flame in his heart draws nigh to an end.

Ba-dump!

The shock absorber on a black off-road truck reverberated the shock of the right fore tyre as it ran into a watery ditch. But then, a shallow curtain of mucky water splash on him stopped him dead in his track. The car quickly pulled to a screeching halt and had the right backdoor flung open brashly.

"I'm so so sorry." She said. A pack of wipes in her hand, she dug out a bunch and smeared them on his shirt.

He gave not a response or put up least a fight but stood, and watched her struggle to right her wrong.

"Why isn't it going?" She muttered disappointedly.

He could tell her arms had begun to grow weary, for her strides had lessened.

"Sorry for the inconvenience." A voice said from behind, he wore a suit and he looked dutiful. 'Hope this helps.'

He shoved in a handful of bills in his hand and walked the lady back to the car. He stood quietly and watched as the car pulled out the side and hurried down the road. As the vehicle disappeared out of sight, a part of him felt hopeful, for the genesis of something unique births with a blunder.

Obsidian: He's hilarious. Like, actually. I loved it. You're writing style is great, although you could do with a few less murmurs and mutters.
