Prologue
My lungs burned.
My legs throbbed.
My arms ached.
My head pounded.
My heart twisted.
It was all his fault.
I let out a small sob but carried on running.
I was almost at the border.
I could hear his panting and shouts for me to stop merely metres behind me.
I could hear his feet slam against the forest floor as he sprinted, desperately trying to catch up with me.
But I couldn’t stop.
I couldn’t go back.
So I carried on running.
