Waking to the scent of warm vanilla was one of the many blessings that Xander had never been able to count.
It was the way it spoke to his heart;
Told him that there was a home he could never part.
This scent spoke of the past, the present, and the future-all, at the same time.
It was at this when Xander would will himself out of the bed he shared with the one he loved, making his way-perhaps a little blindly-to where his heart truly resided.
No, not in the kitchen;
Although really that's where all the food was. And Xander loved food very much.
Ah, but especially when it was made by-
"U-Uwa!"
The man rested his chin on top of his fiancé's head in a lazy attempt to prove that he was up. Hands came round to wrap themselves around the hips of the surprised smaller frame. "Morning."
"Xan! I'm trying to make pancakes here, i-if you haven't noticed, I don't need distractions," His fiancé huffed adorably, prying the roaming hands away from his body.
Xander laughed; a low, pleasant sound that he knew his angel could not resist. "Smells good."
Chip blushed, trying hard not to show the swell of happiness from those mere two words from the one he loved.
"Go shower."
"Together?" Xander smirked.
"W-What? No!"
"Dammit."
It was nearing the end of winter-the icy air reduced to a suitable chill that frosted the edges of the windows of their warm home.
