Summary

The woman standing before Kyren stole every ounce of cognition from him. She was stunning, the moon paled in comparison. The top of her head would not even graze his chin. Her height did not stop her from being imposing. A dark blue vest clung to her chest reveling taught skin over lean muscle. The black leather pants hung low on her hips, exposing soft flesh. Her gaze roamed the crowd, surveying the stupidity around her. After a moment she finally turned attention in his direction. When her gaze met his, it stopped heart. The dark blue pools shone in the dim light, dark as the night sky. She blew a strand of silver out of her face. Kyren's wolf surged to the surface, and they growled. They itched to touch her skin, bury our face in her hair, to feel its softness and inhale its sweet scent. They wanted to stare into her night eyes. She needed to be theirs. ---- Eris's eyes found Kyren quickly. He pushed through crowd, pulling his jacket off and threw it to the stocky blonde at his side. She spoke in low frantic words. He ignored her and climbed in the ring. Shade tugged his shirt over his head and Eris's heart skipped. This man was built like a bear. Kyren's physique was reminiscent of strong man instead of a body builder. His pectorals were covered in a fine swath of dark hair that trailed down his belly disappearing into his jeans. Jeans that hugged his thighs tightly, thighs like a rugby player. Kyren looked towards her quickly, a smirk filling his face, sharp canines peaking beneath his lips. He wasn't human, but she wanted him regardless.

Chapter 1-Kyren

Rem weaved through the crowd ahead of me. Her bun bouncing as she shoved through them. It was the only way I could keep track of her in the throngs of sweaty bodies. The cloying scent of smoke, alcohol and mundane clung to my skin. The men closest to the ring erupted in a cheer.

My sister paused waving me closer. I didn’t struggle through the crowd like she did, they parted before my stride. She pointed her chin to the ring. I paused, watching the gargoyle take a chunk out of the dragon’s hide. The crowd once again went wild.

“Can you imagine fighting one of those guys?” Rem was giddy. Riled up on the blood lust like the rest of the crowd.

I looked away in disgust. Others punishing their bodies for mundanes entertainment, we’d come so far in relations over the years that this was a mockery of it. This place was an insult to the Others that put their lives on the line to make everyone’s better.

“I do not wish to imagine that. I do not like the idea of you doing so either.” Rem grinned up at me. Her excitement palpable.

“Lighten up! This is a great place to let off steam. We can’t be our true selves in public. It scares mundanes too much. Fighting like this, it lets them feel in control. Even though we both know, Others are better at following rules than mundanes.” She turned back to the fight and cheered with the crowd as the gargoyle flattened the dragon.

Someone’s shoulder bumped into the middle of my back, trying to force me out of the way. “Move fuckhead!”

Taking a deep breath I turned to correct the pugnacious cocksucker. The snarl died against my teeth.

The woman standing before us stole every ounce of cognition from me. She was stunning, the moon paled in comparison. The top of her head would not even graze my chin. Her height did not stop her from being imposing. A dark blue vest clung to her chest reveling taught skin over lean muscle. The black leather pants hung low on her hips, exposing soft flesh.

Her gaze roamed the crowd, surveying the stupidity around her. After a moment she finally turned attention in my direction. When her gaze met mine my heart stopped. The dark blue pools shone in the dim light, dark as the night sky. She blew a strand of silver out of her face.

My wolf surged to the surface, and we growled. We itched to touch her skin, bury our face in her hair, to feel its softness and inhale its sweet scent. We wanted to stare into her night eyes as we rutted into her. She needed to be ours.

The cocksucker draped his arm around our female. “What the fuck are you staring at so hard? Keep your fucking eyes to yourself dipshit.”

We slowly peeled our eyes away from our female. The growl reverberated from our chest, issuing the threat when words were lost.

“Peter, don’t antagonize him. He was only watching the fight. You’re the one that pushed in to him. Ease up.” We turned back to her, her words like the breeze through moon drenched leaves.

“He was looking at you. You’re mine. No one looks at what is mine.”

Her glare of indifference and annoyance pleased me. This female did not believe she belonged to him. “First, get your fucking arm off me. Second, I am not YOURS. I’m here because someone has to keep your dumbass under control. You’ll start fights with anyone, case in point.”

She turned her attention back to us. Her features softened, eliciting a soft growl from our lips.

A pleased puzzlement spread across her face. The breathy snicker that left her lips pleased us even more. “I’m sorry about him, he gets jacked up on all of this shit, loves watching Others fight.”

She leaned in closer, and we bent down to meet her. My wolf stepped back, worried of pulling her to us. I took a deep breath, pulling her earthy scent into my lungs. Clove and spring water settled on my tongue.

“I’m really sorry he hit you too.”

I tucked my hands into my pockets. “In this moment, I am not. My name is Kyren, or Wolf if you would prefer.”

Her grin relieved delicate fangs among perfectly straight teeth. “Nice to meet you, Wolf. I’m…”

“Eris, move your ass! I’ve got a fight tonight and you’re in my corner.” Peter grabbed her hand tugging her away from me.

“It was nice to meet you.” Her rushed words carried over the crowd.

I watched the shine of her hair as she headed to the other side of the ring. Peter pulled her against his body and an unexpected rage vibrated through me.

“Kyren you good?” Rem’s words almost did not reach my better senses over the consuming urge to kill the mundane male.

“Perfect.”

My sister stepped in front of me, punching me in the stomach. I glared at her.

“Like hell you are. Who the fuck was the girl?”

I looked for Eris and our eyes locked. Near the ring lights I could see the blush creep across her cheeks.

“My mate.”
