Summary

"You're hilarious," I grumbled sarcastically. "Aw, you know you love me, life would be so incredibly dull without me here to entertain you, sweetheart." Oh, how I hated that smirk, that stupid, egotistical, infruiting, and absolutely intoxicating- Dammit, Nova. There was no time to be thinking about that. Instead, I rolled my eyes, "It would definitely be more peaceful..." He grinned, taking a quick step towards me, his eyes were bright and captivating, and I was surprised when my back hit the trunk of a tree. "Ah, but what's life without raising a little hell."

Prologue

ALVENA, the fourth great nation of Sintara. For many eons, Alvena was known as the Sister Elemental Islands; the nation of peace within the constant warring world.

The 4 Great Sister Islands of Alvena; Ke Akau, Ka Hikina, Komohana, and Ka Hema. In simple terms; the islands of Water, Air, Earth, and Fire, respectively. Each island was ruled by a daughter of the Goddess of Nature Rhea, each being blessed with a sacred element of the earth bestowed upon them in accordance with the given islands.

Kailani of the North blessed with deep, rich soils of fertile lands.

Halina of the East blessed with the fiercest of winds for renewable energy.

Ailani of the West blessed with the rushing life of the seas.

and the youngest, Kaia of the South, blessed with the roaring fires of deep mother earth.

Many eons ago, there was a time when these four islands lived together in peace; each having a special talent to share with the other. This was known as the era of prosperity.

In most Sintara history books, you will read about the great wars between the other nations. For a time, Alvena was the exception.

But, like all great nations, peaceful times do not last forever. There cannot be light without dark, good without bad, and love without hate. Soon calamity hit; this was known as the first great island war.

Kaia of the South had fallen for a man of lower earth, a feral tiefling of devil descent. He swiftly wrapped her in his tendrils of darkness, taking almost no time in corrupting her mind and the very depths of her soul.

As Kaia’s attitudes began to change, the repercussions were great; her children of the South began to take on these new attributes. The once peaceful island had become chaotic, they mimicked the dark ways afflicting their Goddess.

As the islands were interconnected, slowly, they began corrupting each of the sister islands.

As the corruption spread, the islands went into a state of turmoil, fighting against one another, unwilling to share resources and talents as they once were. Each one took on chaotic and evil characteristics; their own selfish desires ruling their thoughts and in turn, their actions.

Kailani of the North could not bear to see the changes happening within her sister and in their people, she could see how the devil had tainted her sister’s heart, and soon she would reach the point of no return and that black heart would stay. There would be no saving Kaia from the depths of Tartaros.

The fires of the south were once used for warmth, kindling, and life, but as Kaia become more entwined with the devil, the darker side of her flames came to light.

Forest fires raged for days in the North, scorching the rich soils and tearing through the thick forests, while the grasslands in the East suffered a similar fate. The lands in the West were not as affected, being woven into the natural rivers and bodies of water; it was seen as the safe haven.

But, this came with its own complications, as many of the families who escaped there only suffered more dearly; the creature corruption was easily spread among groups, and many lives were lost in fruitless battles.

Something needed to be done, Alvena would not survive if this war continued. The remaining elemental sisters; Kailani, Halina, and Ailani came together and knew what needed to be done; together they would do accomplish saving Alvena, even at the cost of sending their sister into the depths of hell.

While it is said that on the night of the summer equinox, when their power was the strongest thanks to their mother's affinity, the 3 elemental Goddesses came together to vanquish the evil plaguing their lands; Water, Earth, and Air becoming one undefeatable force to dispel the chaos that overtook their lands.

As the battle of the elements waged on, Rhea was tired of seeing her children, her creations, completely annihilate one another. Rhea needed it all to end, and she knew just how she needed to do it...

*The following characters and adventures are inspired by the tabletop game dungeons and dragons; all races, classes, alignments, etc. are [loosely] based on the content found on D&D Beyond . Some of the lore comes from d&d as well, but most of it is stuff I’ve created with some references to Greek mythology

*The world, except for Alvena, are from a current campaign I’ve been in, some characters are loosely based on players, but most are of my own creation
