Chapter 1
Who are you? Typically, one might answer by giving their name; but the question isn’t ‘What is your name?’. My name tells you nothing about who I am.
My name is Alina Alekzandra Lafsky. According to my mother, my given names mean beautiful greatness; but I am not particularly beautiful nor do I possess any greatness.
My family name indicates that I am descended from polish aristocracy; but my family no longer bares any resemblance to what it once may have been. Is that a bad thing? We’ll never know.
When I ask who you are, do not give me your name; because that is not what I asked. Now you know who I am not... Who are you?
