Prologue
I was fourteen years old when it happened. The event that changed mine and ten billion other people’s lives.
Ever since I was little, I had this feeling in the back of my mind. It was strange. It was as if nothing in the world interested me. The other second-grade kids at school were all talking about stuff like Pokemon and LEGOs, video games, and other stuff like that. I was not interested in any of them. I was different from the other kids.
Actually, there was one thing I wanted to do. Ever since I read a book about the world fifty years ago. The book said that the sky was almost always blue. Trees grew all over the world. There even wild animals in the woods that would run away from you when you get close. Birds chirped on the branches of trees. I wanted to restore that world. I wanted to make the world alive again. I knew it was not possible.
At the time, I remember doing an English class essay about how pineapple on pizza actually adds to the flavor before - Screeeech-. Suddenly, a blinding flash of light and a deafening screeching sound made me jump. My thoughts went from how stupid was I to choose a topic like this to I’m gonna die.
“Who’s There!” I shouted out of reflex.
Nobody answered. I was terrified. Flashes of light and loud sounds don’t happen every day. I thought I was going insane when I heard my parents both yelled out from the adjacent room, less than a second after I did. We did not even have time to react before it happened again. As the second wave hit, my mind suddenly went blank. I knew no more.
This is a story. A story of mine and many others. A story that was never known and never would have been known... Until today.
