The Gift
Air what was the greatest power perhaps the world has ever known. Air should not be taken lightly for she is the commander and chief to all that there is. Just one breath and she has the power to level out all the elemental players oppressing their forces. Trust me when I say "The Skye will Fall and victory will be served."
The gift and abilities of the power of air. Think about all the things one could do with this. Air can push any element at will to do what it wants through it's G force. It can contain water use it to destroy earth turning it upside down . It can put fire out by simply removing all his air and suffocating him . Don't even think about attacking her the controller can use it's pusuedo echolocation by hearing and feeling anything coming at her. She feels everything empathically and so she can simply using her air sheild to protect her from any attacking forces. She can even control temperature of things through density think about that just by hovering over her element she can freeze them in time. If she so wanted she could simply melt an ice cream cone or a heart at will. Oh and did I fail to mention the controller is invisible she can go anywhere without being seen she can slip in your room at night without you ever knowing and you thought that was a dream ? I think what makes air so powerful is you cannot kill it , she is always there whether you like it or not.
Right from the start Skylar O'Brien was damaged goods she had been hurt, punished, taken advantage of, bullied by the people you were supposed to care and who were the closest to her. In fact he's people called themselves relatives and best friends but nothing could be farther then the truth. The same people that called themselves relatives and Friends had committed the most horrible disgusting crimes against her. No matter what she did or how hard she would try to fit in with them it never worked. She tried the whole forgive and forget thing never working out of course because these frienditives ( friends and relatives) had other hidden agendas it was as if they were not humans at all; just masquerading as humans that were capable of the most horrific and disgusting acts of cruelty and Skylar was their prey. Nothing was ever good enough for them nothing Skylar could ever do in this lifetime would ever surfice for them.
All Skylar wanted do was go home and jump into her bed and pull the covers over her head. She was completely exhausted after a 15-hour shift managing a local coffee shop. As soon as you walked in the door the phone was ringing off the wall OMG she thought please just leave me alone, but no it was her mother again for the second time today ugh "okay okay I'm answering it." "Yes" she says, "Hello is that any way to answer the phone?" Her mom says. "What do you want mom? I'm tired I don't want to talk to anyone right now." "well if you had a decent husband you wouldn't have to work at that damn coffee shop all those hours and your life would be so much easier." "I told you he would never amount to anything." "Okay Mom what do you want anyway? Oh yeah Skylar I just wanted to remind you that this weekend your father and I are going out of town to visit your sister remember? Yeah yeah I remember I haven't forgotten. You know you are welcome to come Skylar. Mom you know I have to work. Oh yes you know if you would just believe in yourself Skylar you could be doing so much better for yourself you know like your sister I'm just saying. at that point Skyler just checks out she was so tired of hearing her mom's comparisons you know the story you why can't you be more like your sister she has the big house the great husband kids dogs vacations diamonds you get the picture. Okay Mom I get your point I got to go I'll talk to you when you get back.all Skylar ever wanted in this world was to make her mom happy and have peace oh and a cup of coffee you know and a hot shower. So Skylar goes into the kitchen makes herself a hot cup of coffee nothing fancy just a regular cup of joe.she runs up the stairs of her falling apart townhouse that she can barely afford to pay the rent on and it is now going on 9:30 p.m. She thinks herself if I just hurry up I might make it to bed sound asleep before Kevin the horrible arrives home. She gulps down some coffee start the water running gets undressed looks briefly in the mirror at herself and just reflects for a minute. "Why not me, where is he anyway? Damn Skylar you're beautiful you're 5 2 blond steel gray eyes Blisten one's heart you're not even that old yet early 40s. "What the hell is wrong with you anyway?"but honestly if you lose any more weight I think you will become invisible not that invisible is bad you have all the control and no one can hurt you."Skylar suffered from anorexia from time to time but there's really nothing to worry about she totally had it under control.she was the perfect weight hair nails all the outside features that maybe he would see her as beautiful and possibly want her that was the goal. But in reality nothing was further than the truth she was just a paycheck with occasional benefits to him she was never anything to him Kevin O'Brien was in his late thirties typical construction worker blond hair built like a god muscle on top of muscle it would make any woman drill his most striking features however was his chin cleft and he's green cat likeeyesthst looked like they were looking for their prey. Like most cats he definitely liked to stray away often to the wee hours of night but Skyler was so busy managing the store 15 hours a day hardly had time to see what was really going on things were tough. They had constant arguments typical things like money because it was always tight and of course that was always Skyler's fault. Kevin always said if you would just get a better job things wouldn't be so tough around here and we might have more time together. "why can't things be like they used to she thought if you only paid more attention to me you know like it used to." We used to go to dinner we laughed a lot he used to bring me roses and by her little trinkets. Skylar stepped into the shower "Ahh"she said that had to be the best 10 minutes of the entire day. She quickly got out of the shower put on her favorite sweatpants and t-shirt and she collapsed into bed it was the only place where she could truly be alone in her thoughts.it was a place where she didn't have to prove herself to anyone a place where she could just be. Inside no one knew how she was just truly under so much pressure that she was coming apart from the inside out. She felt powerless, complacent, inadequate, as a daughter, as a lover, as a manager in all our relationships. She fell asleep completely exhausted not even dreaming.
The alarm clock buzzing she's hitting snooze button at least five times and it's morning. It was 4 a.m. in the morning who the hell gets up at 4 a.m. to go to work she thinks. Kevin sound asleep next to her rolls over and is totally knocked out. Finally she gets up and has to be to work at 5 a.m. to open the store.She hurries to the bathroom Rochester teeth looks in the mirror in the morning and says to herself I can do this pep talk just one more day. She runs back into the bedroom Kevin get out come on we got to go come on come on I'm going to be late. Okay Skylar I got this see you later.Skylar runs out the door jumps in her falling apart Jeep Cherokee runs up the road to open the coffee shop.
she opens the doors gets the coffee going runs to the back to get supplies from the fridge. When all of the sudden she hears someone come in the door "be right there she says." Skylar hurried to gather the supplies and runs to the front. Mr. Hanson how are you? And what do I owe the the pleasure of this surprise? Well Skylar mr. Hanson says I have a bit of a bad news please come and sit down. Mr. Hanson was the owner of the family bean store that Skyler had worked at for the past 5 years. Listen Skyler Mr. Hanson clears his throat we have made a decision that we cannot keep the family being open any longer. Now I know this comes as a shock but seriously I'm closing the doors today I'm sorry I wasn't able to tell you earlier I was hoping that things would work out. Mr. Hansen gave her a check for the next two weeks and the two of them walked out of the store and lock the doors forever. Skylar was in complete shock all she could think about where the bills piling up and how she was going to pay everything oh my God.so Scyther jumps into her Jeep sits there for a moment just trying to catch her breath and then she starts to head home really not knowing what to do and dreading telling the friendatives.
As Skylar makes her way back to the townhouse she stops at a red light and she thinks to herself that's Kevin's car on the other side of the street stopped at this red light also. What is he doing here? He is supposed to be at work. And then she sees directly across from her another woman in her seat. She will never forget the look on his face that's one she will never forget. They were both just Frozen at this light it seemed that seem to last forever. They were just stuck there s staring at each other. They both were headed towards the town house of course. The light changed and Kevin turned away and drove off in another direction entirely. Skylar being in complete shock hurrys back to the town house runs up the stairs to a room pulls all the clothes out of the closet and throws them into suitcases as fast as she can. She is feverishly crying out of control she can't believe that after 15 years Kevin had secretly been having an affair with another woman in her very own bed and she didn't even know it. How could this be so stupid how could Kevin bring her to their home ? Skylar proceeds to throw everything she could in the back of her Jeep. she slams the back door of the Jeep closed. She can't stop crying she jumps into the front seat and drives off going over and over in her head the bad scene. She starts heading down highway 95 your best friend's house Mia and Skylar had been best friends since high school she's probably the only one that will understand her pain. Seriously where else would you go if your entire life was over in flash. She drove so fast she didn't even remember the trip at all. She jumps out of the truck runs to the door just sobing with only one bag in her hand knocks on the door her good friend opens the door and Skylar says " Thank God your home." Skylar is hysterically crying her eyes out at this point she can hardly speak . " Come in come in what's going on what happened Skylar?" " Oh my God honey are you okay? " " No no I'm not." Mia asks Skylar to come and sit down she will make some coffee ( at the word coffee Skylar starts crying even harder.) It's going to be ok Skylar everything is always ok Mia says. Mia brings in a large box of Kleenex and two really big mugs of coffee. Skyler unloads on Mia all the days events how she lost her job, her house and the love of her life within just a few hours. Mia looks at her dear friend and says we'll " The Skye definitely fell on you today, but don't worry everything will be okay I promise." You are staying here with me until we can get you back on your feet . You can stay in our guest room for now and tomorrow we will work on a plan for you.
That night Skylar couldn't sleep well she just laid in bed staring at the stars outside for window. Tears running down her face she gets up stands in front of the window looking up at the stars with her arms stretched out and says : This is ridiculous down here no one should have to live like this . No one should have to feel this unloved, unaccepted, broke and alone. I am knocking at your door ( she envisions this giant door with this big brass knocker and she is knocking as hard as she can.) It is my birthright I am supposed to experience abundance and prosperity. I am asking my angels and guardians to step in here I am asking for divine assistance here. Thank You. It was strange she just felt exhausted after that and she drifted of to sleep in a pool of tears.
This night forever changed her life. Somewhere between the state of dreaming and what you would call visions she was perfectly awake. Three beautiful sisters appeared they were dressed like Roman goddesses with long beautiful flowing hair. Each of these sisters were leaning over a stone table and they were very serious and they were chanting something. The chanting went on for sometime and she couldn't really understand the words that were being spoken but Skylar was not afraid it was as if she knew them. Then out of nowhere black iron shackles broke apart and lifted from around her ankles and suddenly she was free. It was a freedom she had never felt before. The air beneth her just lifted her up suddenly she was being pulled up through a door in the the sky . It was beautiful she was floating among the stars she realized it was a gateway that she could go anywhere she wanted. A voice from the void said you can visit anytime you like.She thanked the three sisters for her new found freedom. Still not totally understanding what had just transpired.
