For a few days, I was out of school with a really bad ear infection that I still had when I came back. In most of my classes I didn't miss much, all of it I made up in just a few days. It was only in my geometry class that I fell behind. We had learned all these new ideas and terms, all of which I didn't know.
I was sitting next to my friend and she could help me but after three questions I stopped asking because I felt that I was annoying her, which now I'm sure isn't true. I just sat there in my frustration.
In the midst of trying to calm myself down my treacher notice how overwhelmed I was and singled me out saying, "Did you come back to school too soon, Lily?". All the confusion and frustration came rushing out of me like a geyser as I opened my mouth to respond. The knot in my throat seemed to swell three sizes, my dry eyes were quickly moised by tears and my nose filled with snot.
I kept wiping my eyes trying to rid myself of my tears but it was like waves crashing on the beach, they seemed to retreat and then smashed back down on me.
I tried to attribute my crying to pain from my ear infection. Wiping my eyes and hiding in my hands and yelled about not having my Advil.
Everyone stared at me with concern and my friend put a calming hand on my back. The room was silent except for the sounds of me violently wiping my tears away with the sleeve of my dark blue jacket.
I slowly came down from my nervous collapse, my breathing heavy and quick. Everyone got back to work, letting me wallow in my embarrassment by myself.
