He is the most feared mafia and people don't make the foolish mistake of crossing paths with him. He is torn by his past with no hope of finding peace. But he was wrong because she became his redemption. He is her anchor. She is his wings. . . And welcome to this book. I hope you will enjoy reading this. The book contains some mature themes not too mature but I prefer this for 14+. Also if you are not a fan of innocent female character and possesive, dangerous male character I suggest this book is not for you.

Chapter 1

IVY'S POV:

The alarm went off on my night stand startling me. I woke up instantly, I was never a heavy sleeper. I can wake up with just a little noice. I never sleep peacefully because I am often awoken by my nightmares which are actually my reality I can never run away from no matter how hard I try. Life is so difficult sometimes. I just wish I would have died with my family 10 years back then it wouldn't have been so hard for me but luck has never been on my side. I am living without any purpose, just lonely, alone in the shell of my own depressive world. Shaking my head I tried to clear up all the negative thoughts from my mind. If I kept thinking about it I was sure I will break down again which will lead to another panic attack and I can't cope with that now. It's hard to cope up with the panic attacks when you are drained emotionally and physically.

I sighed after hitting my alarm shut I stripped my thin blankets away from my body. My apartment is nothing fancy but that's the only thing I can afford. I have been living here since 3 years. It's located in the poorest part of the New-York city. My apartment have one bedroom, a bathroom and a small kitchen which is enough as I am leaving alone. The carpet is worn off and I don't have much furniture in my house. My bedroom just consist of a small bed, a closet and my nightstand. This apartment just gives me a sense of comfort and safety it feels like if I stay here I will be able to hide... from my demons, from my past but deep down I know the truth that I won't be able to hide forever. They will come for me and will burn me down till there is nothing but ashes left. Tears welled up in my eyes and panic started to rise within me.

"No, no, no Ivy just focus. Don't go there stay calm. Just stay calm".

I kept chanting to myself loudly and thankfully I calmed down without giving rise to any panic attack. I roughly wiped my tears away before getting up from my bed. I entered in my shower letting the hot water cascade down my body. My muscles relaxed and I calmed down completely. I stayed there for a few more minutes before scrubbing myself with soap. I washed my hair with my cheap shampoo after cleaning myself completely I dried my hair off with my old worn off towel squeezing all the excess water out. I wrapped my towel around my chest tightly. I came out from the shower after brushing my teeth. I opened my closet. My closet is nothing fancy. Just a few sweatshirts and hoodies along with 3 pairs of Jeans. I wore my undergarments before throwing a pair of Jeans and oversized yellow coloured hoodie over myself. I stood in front of the mirror attached to my wall. I pulled my hair up in a loose messy bun letting some strands of my hair to fall over my face.

I looked at myself in the mirror feeling disappointed once again. My eyes were having bags under them because of not sleeping much. I was thankful they were not too dark but they will become if this continues for another week. My pale skin was ordinary nothing special. My hazel eyes looked dull. They lost it's shine long ago. My black coloured hair came until my waist. My body wasn't what men desire. It was petite and thin I never look at myself in mirror often because it always gives me the evidence that my life will never be the same again and I will never be able to give a real smile.

I entered the kitchen and grabbed an apple and a glass of milk. After finishing my breakfast I took my purse and exited the house searching for job again. My previous job was in a small resturant as a waitress but the payment was too low because of less customers. The resuturant had shut down 2 weeks ago leaving me jobless. I needed a job to pay off my Bills and to buy some food for my pathetic self.

Evening approached I looked at my watch which shows the time 9:30. I pulled my hair in frustration. Another day gone and I still couldn't find a job. I was in public library trying to find if anybody has replied to me for an job interview on laptop. I filled numerous job application forms which were looking for a employee. But still, I am jobless. If people say New York is a great city with numerous job opportunities then they are wrong. They don't know the struggle of people like me.

I started walking towards my apartment it's a 30 minutes walk. Even though I hate walking alone at night I couldn't afford to waste money on any taxi or cab. I needed to save as much as possible as I don't have any source of income until I get a job.

I started going through the dark alleyway which will eventually lead to the building I stay in. The darkness was growing with every passing second and I started feeling uneasy. I never come home this late. I always reach my apartment before 7 PM now it's 10:00 PM. I heard the footsteps of someone who was walking behind me following me I hold my bag tightly against myself increasing my pace. Soon enough I started running. I glanced back to see a hooded figure following me and my eyes widened. Feeling terrified I looked forward only to get bumped in a hard chest and falling backwards on my ass. I stared at the person I collided with and my body stilled filling with fear. There stood a creepy old man smirking sinsterly at me his teeth were stinking black. He was holding a knife in his hand. His beard was thick and white. His hair was till his shoulders black coloured with lots of white streaks in it.

"What do you think? Will she do for us?"

Someone spoke from behind I didn't need to turn my head to know it was the hooded figure following me.

The old man smirked and a wave of sickness rushed over me.

"Well, the men are hungry and she is pretty. I don't think they will mind a little less boobs and butt" he told. His voice filled with lust as he stared at me.

My breath hitched as realization hit me what this people are actually going to do to me. Panic started rising within me in full force and my eyes started welling up. Everything started becoming dizzy. I just did one thing I could do to save myself. Swiftly I pushed the old man as hard as I could and he stumbled back. I started running as fast as my legs could take me. My eyes was filled with tears and I was on the verge on full blown panic attack. I needed to get out of here. But as I said luck is never on my side I stumbled upon a big rock which I was unable to point out due to my blurry vision and dizziness. I fall down flat on my face. The footsteps behind me became closer and closer. I hurriedly stood up to get away from those sick minded people. But as soon as I did a set of arms grabbed my waist from behind. I flinched at how strong his grip was. I was shocked, beyond horrified. Before I could struggle anymore I felt a needle prick in my neck. In no time everything started spinning around me. The last thought that crossed my mind was...

Wasn't I broken enough? Why did you send these people to break me even more Jesus?

Obsidian: He's hilarious. Like, actually. I loved it. You're writing style is great, although you could do with a few less murmurs and mutters.
