The Over-Dramatic Power-Cut

CHAPTER 1: The Over-Dramatic Power Cut

The whole town of Wiltshire (more like Witshit), was under a severe weather warning, as usual. But did that stop 3 teenage girls from hanging out? Hell nah.

First was Holly, who was the oldest, she was 17. She was one of those girls that you look at and you can instantly tell that she is athletic. That is complete bullshit, she just has good genes. The reality is that Holly sits at home all day chewing on her potato chips, not giving a crap about the world around her.

Second there was Samantha. She was one of those girls that you can’t tell whether she is 16 or 60. Nevertheless she is 16. Even though her attendance was appalling at school, she still had fairly good grades, and she was actually smart enough to not be classed as dumb.

Third was Ellie, who was as dumb as she looked. She was one of those girls who cry when Nemo gets flushed down the toilet, and one of those girls who would run out of the room when Bambi’s mother died. She was however, the most popular out of the 3 of them, and they have all been best friends even since.

Anyway let’s start this story in a dramatic fashion.

The three girls were sat on the floor of Ellie’s house. The only noise that could be heard was the rain pounding on the glass, and the distant thunder. A few flashes of lightning could be seen. No one was speaking. Instead they decided that listening to the rain was a much better idea than talking to each other.

“Guys I cannot believe that we are going to be in college next year.” Holly spoke up for the first time in 10 minutes because no one seemed to say anything.

“I know! I am so shocked. I am even more shocked that Ellie made it this far in life.” Samantha agreed, smirking at Ellie who was sat next to her.

“Sam-!”

“No she’s right. Yesterday when I was in the shower, I decided it was a good idea to turn the shower head upwards and stare at it. Then I turned the water on and I splashed myself full on in the face.” Ellie spoke blankly as she reached for another handful of popcorn.

“Oh.” the two other girls said, staring at each other. They didn’t exactly know what to do with that new information.

“So, does anyone want more popcorn?” Ellie asked standing up, picking up the empty bowl from Holly.

“Yeah might as well. We only live once.” Sam said, shrugging her shoulders as she passed her empty bowl as well.

“Why do you always say that?” Holly asked once Ellie was out of the room.

“Say what?”

“That we only live once?”

“Well it’s true, I don’t exactly have nine lives.”

“Jesus don’t let my mum hear you say that.”

“Oh yeah, did you see that new girl in our class?” Sam asked getting tired of their previous conversation.

“Oh yeah, isn’t her name Chelsea or something?”

“It’s Caitlyn but close enough. Well apparently her dad is a police officer.”

“Wow. I need to make sure to hide that dead body in my garage then.”

And then, in that moment.

*thunder noises*

“AH SON OF A JESUS BISCUIT!” Sam cursed as she lunged at Holly and clung onto her. She never liked to admit it, but she was really scared of thunder and lightning.

“Uh Sam? It’s just thunder?”

“Pft you won’t be saying that when the lightning destroys your car.”

“Uh guys?” Ellie shouted from the kitchen, “did we leave that door open?”

“What door?” Holly and Sam both looked at each other.

And then?

BOOM!

The only thing that the two girls could see was darkness and the pale light that shone in through the windows. Sam was clinging onto Holly, and Holly was clinging onto her. This was indeed, a very sudden power cut.

The floor creaked, as careful and light footsteps could be heard. Holly reached for Sam’s hand and intertwined her fingers out of fear.

“Ellie?” Holly, the braver one called out.

“Ellie are you okay?” Sam was calling out now as well.

There was no response however.

“Dammit, is this her way of getting revenge for the prank I pulled on her?” Sam wondered out loud.

“I don’t know. Maybe. I remember, she tried to get you back for it and it didn’t work. She cried about it for 2 hours straight.”

“Well this is a good prank. I officially shat myself. DO YOU HEAR THAT ELLIE? I SHAT MYSELF, YOUR PRANKS ARE THE BEST!” Sam started yelling now as a last resort.

“Okay like why am I getting some serious home alone vibes?”

BOOM!

The power came back on.

“Well that was dramatic.” both of the girls said in unison as they squinted their eyes to get used to the sudden change in lighting.

They decided that after such a dramatic power cut, the best idea is to go into the kitchen to check on Ellie, instead of bolting the fuck out of the house.

Fingers still intertwined, the two girls took a huge breath of air, as they prepared for the worst.

And then...

Both of the girls gasped.

“Oh my god...” Holly trailed off.

“Who would do such a thing...” Sam gasped, putting her hands in front of her mouth.

“What kind of monster is capable of such a thing...” Holly continued her eyes as wide as saucers.

There. In front of the two girls, was lots of different chocolate wrappers, all thrown around. The chocolate was still inside, but most of them have been stepped on, and they have now leaked onto the floor, which was covered in muddy footprints.

“HOLLY!” Sam screamed as she pointed at the microwave in horror.

It took a few seconds for Holly to realize what Sam was referring to, but when she did... she gasped even louder than before.

“No fucking way! First the chocolates and... AND-” her voice broke at the end.

“The popcorn is gone too...” Sam finished her sentence for her.

THE HORROR!

“And now I am freezing my non-existent bollocks off.” Sam added, as if that would make the situation any better.

“Me too.” Holly agreed as she shivered rather loudly.

“Here have my hoodie.” Sam suggested as she unzipped her hoodie and put it around the slightly smaller girl.

“You don’t have to.” Holly argued quite weakly.

“Well too late, I already took it off and I can’t be arsed to take it back off you.” and the moment was ruined.

...

“Oh yeah. Where is Ellie?” Holly asked as she looked around the kitchen.

“Oh yeah, she kinda vanished into thin air. I hope this isn’t like one of her magic shows. You know the one where she tried to make her goldfish disappear by flushing it down the toilet.”

“God I hope not.”

“I think maybe we should go outside.” Sam suggested. Finally someone said something useful.

“UM and go outside in that rain? No chance!”

“But what if Ellie is in actual danger? She did sound scared when she said that the door was open-”

“Wait so that wasn’t a joke?” Holly asked now sounding a bit scared.

“Well it would explain the really obvious muddy footprints on the floor that we refused to acknowledge for like five minutes to waste time.” Sam stated shrugging her shoulders and pointing at the footprints.

“Wait did Ellie say her dad’s out of town?”

“Yeah he is meant to be. Holly-boo-boo I don’t think this was a joke.” Sam said stating the obvious.

“I don’t think it was either. But if you call me Holly-boo-boo one more time, I am going to tell everyone about THAT video.” Holly was bringing out the big guns.

Sam gasped, realizing that Holly wasn’t kidding. “Okay fine. We need to go outside like now”

After another five minutes of arguing back and forth, and flipping a coin over who is going outside (Sam lost), the two were looking for something to arm themselves with, in case anything happened.

“Okay I’ll grab this broomstick and pan, and you can grab that slipper.” Sam said as she picked up the broomstick as a weapon and the pan as a shield.

“Um no I am not grabbing that slipper. I need a proper weapon.”

“Fine, grab the vibrator.”

“Excuse me what the fuck?”

“It’s in the second drawer, don’t ask why it’s in the kitchen.”

After Holly grabbed the vibrator as a weapon, Sam walked up to the door and carefully opened it. It was still raining, but not as bad as before, the thunder and lightning seemed to have stopped. How ironic.

When the door opened the only thing that the two girls saw was that the back garden was completely demolished. The plant pots were broken and thrown into the middle of the garden. The cloth hanger was on the floor, the shed door was knocked down.

“Jesus. It looks like Shrek came through here in a rage.” Sam observed, as she carefully walked up to the broken plant pots.

“Be careful Sam!” Holly shouted, unknowingly clutching the vibrator closer to her.

“Careful is my middle name.” Sam replied with a wink that made Holly slightly blush.

It’s not like she is gay or anything, but Sam’s wink always made her blush, and made her feel sick in her stomach, but in a good way.

As Sam was looking through the broken plant pots, she saw a small object. It took her seconds to realize that it was Ellie’s phone.

“Ay Holly! I found Ellie’s phone...” Sam said as she picked up the phone, and bolted back inside, not wanting to be outside any longer than she has to be.

“Let’s see, maybe there’s something on there that tells us what happened?” Holly wondered out loud as she chucked the vibrator as far as she could, before sitting down on the floor.

“Okay.” Sam agreed as she took a deep breath and opened Ellie’s phone. Surprisingly, it had no lock on it, but then again it is Ellie’s phone, so anything is possible.

What she found was by far the scariest thing that happened tonight.

“Holy shit...” Sam gasped as she read the text message.

Unknown (21:09) if you don’t have the stuff by 10 tonight, then there will be trouble.

Sam looked at Holly in horror before showing her the text.

“Oh my god...” Holly gasped, she couldn’t even breathe.

There was no way. How could this be?

“ELLIE IS A DRUG DEALER???” both girls screamed in unison, a look of astonishment on their faces.

If only the two girls knew what they were getting themselves into...
