Prologue

"You can't catch me!" I shouted behind me, before quickly dashing out the door with the candy bar in my hand as my childhood bestfriend friend chased behind me. He began to catch up with me, Laughing, I ran faster and dodged his attacks as he tried to get the candy bar out of my hand. After running for a 10 minutes and trying to avoid his attack,I began to slow down and allowed him to catch up and tackle me. Giggling, we both sat up and leaned against each other

Giggling I stated "Slow poke" he glared at me, trying to be angry at me but I could see he was trying not to smile. Sitting up we sat across each other and gazed at each other for a while, just enjoying each others company, before I remembered I still had the candy in my hand. Opening the wrapper I snapped the candy bar in half before handing it to him. He smiled widely before taking the candy and stuffed it in his mouth. After finishing the bar he stood up and moved beside me, and together we watched the sunset.

"I'm gonna miss you when you go away." Blu whispered, before looking down sadly. Giving him a sad smile, I leaned over and gave him a side hug.

"Don't forget me, I will be back someday." I whispered in his ear, before looking my best friend in the eye with sincerity. Leaning my head on his shoulder, we watched the sun began to set passed the mountains.

Today was my last day in my home town before me and my parents moved to another state due to my fathers work. My father is a business man and would often travel out of town for business meetings. My mother thought it would be easier if we moved to another state closer to my fathers work. At first I didn't agree, I couldn't imagine leaving my best friend behind; but after promising to come visit I reluctantly agreed.

Blu and I have been friends since diapers; since our mothers were best friends and both got pregnant at the same time. It was only a matter of time before we became inseparable. We have shared every moment together, from learning how to walk, and learned everything together. If I was getting bullied, Blu would save me and beat my bullies; most of the time I had to break off the fights; and lets just say the bullies left me alone after that. We became inseparable. He became my protector.

We watched as the fell over the mountains and disappeared and I began to feel sleepy. Blu looked at me when I let out a loud yawn and began to get up. We stood up and began to walk towards our neighborhood; me being the lazy one asked if I can get a piggyback ride. Blu agreed and allowed me to jump on his back and let him carry me. When we got closer to home, I jumped off his back and continued to walk beside him.

As we got to my house, I turned to face him and hugged him, silent tears rolled down my face. I pulled back and looked into his beautiful steel grey eyes and saw a lone tear roll down his cheek, raising my hand, I wiped that tear away. I then ran my hand over his face, memorizing every last detail; from his pitch black hair to the little speck of blue in his eyes.

"Don't forget to come say goodbye to me in the morning, okay?." I said silently, still looking up at him.

"I won't forget, I promise." He said before backing away slowly, and I started to walk up my house driveway. I looked back once and waved at him before disappearing into my empty house.

The next morning, We finished packing the essentials and loading things into the car. I waited anxiously in my driveway for Blu, knowing I would have to leave in five minutes with or without saying goodbye. As time passed by, I began to lose hope that he would appear and say goodbye.

Just as I was about enter the car I heard a shout from behind me. Looking back I see Blu running towards me with a small note in his hand, jumping off quickly ran to meet him halfway and tackled him in one last hug.

Chuckling he said "you really thought I wasn't gonna come back and say goodbye to my best friend, did you?" Shaking my head childishly, I lightly patted his head. He grabbed my hand and put the note in my palm before saying "Read this when you feel lonely or miss me." Nodding my head, I held the note tightly but careful to not damage it.

"Come on, Honey! We must get going!" I heard my mother shout from behind me.

"Just a second, mom!" I shouted back, Hugging Blu tightly, I say "Goodbye Blu." Before letting go and ran to the car before getting in and shutting the door. Tears rolled down my face, and my sniffles could be heard throughout the car.

My father started the car and began driving away from my home and my dearest Blu. Looking out the window one last time, I see him trying to run after the car. Putting my hand on the window, I try shouting at him to be careful and not to forget me. He began to slow down as we turned the corner and disappeared.

Few hours have passed and I was still ignoring my parents and was continuously stared out the window and watch as the landscape changed from mountains and forest to the plains and into the city. I began to wonder what would happen to Blu? What become of us when we grow older? And most importantly, would he still remember me after a few years?

Gazing down at the note I noticed a picture peeking out from the folds; gently pulling it out I smiled at the memory of when this picture was taken. It was a hot summer day and we were eating ice-cream, Blu kept complaining that it was hot so I stuck my ice-cream on top of his head. That picture was taken moments after, I was laughing at his shocked face. Smiling, I looked out the window as we drove to my new home, with one thought in mind.

I must come back to Blu.
