Over the wall
Cora hid behind the dead bushes behind of the school gate. She saw Miss Harris lock the school doors and amble away to her car. Cora stumbled over the school wall and sighed in relief. Luckily she was silent. Inhaling then exhaling, Cora crept up to the back of the school, crouching and staring. Just as she made sure the coast was clear. The sun melted, causing the moon to take its place.
"Good," Cora sighed. She stepped onto the field, taking in the last of the daylight. Dusk fell as fast as it could, making Cora flinch at every step she took, trying not to step on anything. She jogged cautiously to the panel of electricity just to the left of her. Cora flicked the switch to turn on the blinding, white lights. She dimmed them as the stared into the panel. Something was different than other electricity panels. Maybe it was worse or better coded? Oh well. Cora took a bobby pin from her toffee brunette hair and headed toward the cupboards full of sports equipment.
Cora used her bobby pin to pick-lock a cupboard key hole, making the cupboards doors to open. Cora smirked, grabbing the most inflated football. She closed door shut, not locking it in case she needed to get something easily. Once she arrived back at the field, Cora started to shoot some goals and dribble the football.
"You know what," Cora panted and spoke to herself, "time to run." She went to the bathroom and splashed her face with cold water and headed back out to the field. Her emerald eyes glistening in the beams of white light, Cora started to run laps around the field, thinking about all her troubles of high school finally going to disappear. Being a junior in high school should be fine but not for Cora. Cora can have some bad temper when she gets angered. She would shout and scream, even sometimes hurting others. Everyone would call her a bully but they don't know what she goes through at home.
Having a single mom and a new step-father for Cora can be really hard, especially when her step-dad expects so much for Cora its so overwhelming she goes to a therapist sometimes. Of course her mom was always there for her, but she couldn't tell her mom how she had some bad terms with her step-dad or her mom would break down and start feeling guilty. Its already hard enough for Cora's mom after her first husband passed away from fighting fires, as he was a fireman.
Cora snapped out of her thoughts as she noticed something glowing from underneath her.
"W-why am I going s-so fast?!" Cora stuttered. She glanced down, looking at her feet pounding on the grass rapidly. Yellow and blue particles started to spark from her feet, only making her go faster than Usain Bolt, or even faster than a cheetah! Worried tears started to form in Cora's eyes. What was happening to her?
"Please slow down!" Cora thought with tears staining her tan face. Unexpectedly, Cora's feet leisurely slowed down, making Cora's tear-filled eyes dry up. Shaking like a dog scared of a vet, Cora came to a full stop. She wanted to say something but the only thing she could croak out was a: w-what? Quivering just like her voice, she ambled to the cupboards and placed the football gently in it. With a sudden rage, she slammed the cupboard door and broke down, "Whats wrong with me?!"
