First day
-
The office was quiet besides the ticking of the wall clock and the scribbling of pen against paper. Idris sat across from the high priest, Father Grim. He was a nice man he was more of an uncle really beings in grew up along side her father and mother. They all attended the academy together, it was surprisingly really how they all still kept in touch with one another. Pulled from her thoughts by her familiar, Seamus. Who began rubbing against her legs. Seamus was a beautiful, black cat with piercing green eyes. Every witch and warlock had a familiar they were like a protector in as sense, Idris and Seamus had been through quite a lot together. Too many near death experiences to count at this point.
“Alright I’m sorry about that, just your admission papers. Tomorrow you’ll start your classes. Of course I’ll have someone show you around so you’re not oblivious to your surroundings. Here’s your schedule, I’d like for your teachers to sign it so I know you’re actually attending class. Have a good first day kiddo.” Father grim spoke with a smile as he handed her a few sheets of paper along with a satchel and books. “Thank you Father grim.” Idris said bowing out of respect.
He nodded as she collected her things. Heading out of the Officer her amber eyes focused in on the schedule. “First we have, spell casting. Then Ap dark arts, biology then lunch that should be fun right Seamus?” Idris questioned the small cat who walked next to her. He let out a small meow which made her laugh. “No I won’t feed you mice.” Idris responded as they turned the corner bumping into another body.
“Excuse me, sorry.” Idris spoke looking up to see a white haired boy with stunning grey eyes. At first she thought he was mute until he smiled widely. “No harm done. You must be Idris Slone the new girl yeah?” He said tilting his head. A small little white mouse appeared on his shoulder. Seamus jumped into Idris’ arms startling her some. “Yeah I am..who are you?” She questioned Seamus staring at the small mouse who squeaked softly. “I’m Gavin and this little guy is leviathan.” The boy spoke with a charming smile.
“Well it was nice meeting you both but have to get to my dorm. I’ll see you around.” Idris said softly trying to move past the boy who stopped her. “You dropped this.” He said kneeling before he held up her schedule, his grey eyes moving over the paper. “We have Ap dark arts together with Kimbler. I guess we will be seeing each other.” Gavin exclaimed as he handed back her schedule. Idris wasn’t use to talking to people or making friends so she was trying to get out of this situation as quickly as possible before she ended up turning him into a frog or sketching because she panicked.
“Okay haha bye bye now.” Idris said before she snatched he schedule and practically sprinted away. Gavin way he’d her disappear around the corner before laughing softly to himself. “Such a weird girl.” He spoke looking at leviathan who squeaked loudly. “No her cat won’t eat you, silly boy. You’re going to be fine.” Having assured his little white mouse.
Next morning
-
Idris awoke to Seamus yeowing loudly and pawing at her head. “Shut up Seamus..” she mumbled swatting at the cat before pausing. “Wait what time is it!” Idris yelled jumping up from her bed looking at the time. She had ten minutes to get to her first class and she hadn’t even taken a shower. Her extremely long pin straight brown hair was messily sticking out in all directions. Running to the bathroom before pausing as she looking on the mirror she took a deep breath closing her eyes. “Lythen de mune ekes tuva.” She chanted softly before she opened her eyes.
Now fully dressed in her uniform she snatched her brush from the dressed and bolted into the bathroom. She was going to be late on her first day, father grim was so gonna murder her. Quickly brushing her hair and teeth she scooped up her satchel with her books and schedule inside. Idris headed out into the hall running into what felt like a brick wall. “Satans will, you have to stop running around.” Spoke a familiar voice, looking Idris caught eyes with Gavin. ‘Here we go again.’ She thought.
“I’m sorry but I have to get to class I’m going to be late.” Idris said as Seamus scurried ahead. “Hey wait-.” Gavin called but Idris was already down the hall and around the corner following Seamus to her first class. After two minutes of running past teachers and nearly bulldozing over a few students, as she arrived the door was closed and it was dark inside. “Seamus what’s going on?” She asked kneeling and running her hand over his slick fur. “I tried to tell you, class is cancelled this morning for spell casting with Glimmor.” Startled Idris quickly turned around seeing Gavin standing there.
Idris rolled her amber eyes and placed her hands on her hips. “And how do you know that?” She mused leaning forward some as she looked up at him. “I have this class too.” He retorted as he stuffed his hands on his pockets. Idris scowled and crossed her arms now. “We have about an hour or two until Ap dark arts would you like to get breakfast with me?” Gavin asked smiling with his perfect white teeth. His hair didn’t seem tossled or disheveled as hers had been from running through the halls.
Seamus meowed loudly before he moved and sat next to Gavin. He was siding with the male, he was hungry and he knew Idris was too. She was too stubborn to say so. “Fine.” She mumbled causing Gavin to smile. “Great this way.” He said before heading in the opposite direction she came. “Why are you being so nice?” Idris questioned as she walked next to Gavin her arms now relaxed at her sides. “Am I not suppose to be nice to you, Moorewill?” He asked raising an eyebrow. “No, it’s just not something I’m use to that’s all.” Idris mumbled quietly to herself as they reached the cafeteria.
“Well I can be mean to you if you’d like..” he suggested. “What no!” Iciris said causing him to chuckle leaning his head back. His laugh was like bells, Seamus headed over to a table by the window and laid down on it. Levithan skimpering after him and stopping a few inches away from the cat. Seamus raised his head before he tilted it, it seemed as though they were chatting before Seamus laid his head back down. “Come we’re next.” Gavin informed nudging her lightly.
What a day so far.
