Picture Perfect
IT is already half an hour after midnight but Dren is still wide awake, his eyes never leaving the painting he was making.
'She's so perfect. This has to be perfect, too.' He told himself as he applied the finishing touch to his masterpiece.
He stared at the beautiful lady on the painting for a while with a wide, happy smile plastered on his face as it slowly moves to life, which has then smiled lovingly and waved at him. They stared at each others eyes, sharing a look only lovers could understand. But as each seconds tick, his smile falters...
HE saw of her on the day he went camping in the forest with his friends who are also painters. Lovatia; with her white goddess-like hair, fair skin, jet black almond eyes and plump, luscious lips---no man would never fall for her. She was just there, standing beside a tree, dressed in a flowing bright white silk dress, as if she waiting for anyone but him.
With no hesitance, he approached her, and just like any other perfect love stories you know, they happened. In a quick span of time, he fell hard and deep. And so is she. Everyday, they would meet at the opening of the forest just to be together, savoring each other's company. It was almost a one hour drive for Dren but he did not care, as long as he is with her.
Time came that he asked of her place. She refused to tell which made him inquisitive.
Why would she not tell him? If in the near future they would still be together, as a happily married couple.
With this question bugging his mind, he set forth to follow her one day. To see her place, to know her more.
It was a journey he wished he never should have done, for he saw where she really was from: Nirvanna.
Nirvanna.
A place of pure blissfulness.
A place of such hidden beauty.
A paradise, as he calls it.
But little did he know that it was a place only for enchanted people like Lovatia.
A place where he does not belong.
He was looking around, fascinated of the creatures around him. Unicorns, elves, fairies, dragons... even shippers! The myths, the legends were true! And they are all here, right in this very place!
"Wow! A true horse shipper!" He exclaimed when he saw a beautiful little girl turn into a horse. The horse turned its head towards him, shocked and afraid of his presence. Before he could even step a bit closer to her, it went galloping down the pathway with pebbles that shine.
"Dren! What are you doing here?!" He heard a woman called.
He turned around to see his beloved Lovatia, who was lovely as ever. Her voice was laced with panic and fear as her gorgeous eyes glowed a bright shade of gold. She hurriedly went near him, grabbed his hand and tried to pull him towards the glowing gate, the portal to the human world. "You need to go! Please! Before he feels your presence!"
"What? My love, Lovatia, calm down." Dren said, confused, never letting her move him a bit.
"Please! You are forbidden to go here! My father would kill you! Dren, oh please, listen to what I say and do everything as I tell you!" Lovatia, the goddess he is not aware of, pleaded.
She is a talking of his safety and of the danger he would encounter should he stay any longer in their world.
Lovatia's father, King Oblivio X, knew she was in love with a human and was planning on killing him. But she stopped her father, making the both of them come to a deal. A deal that he, King Oblivio, would never touch his daughter's beloved human so long as she, Lovatia, marries the prince of Eutophia---Zhion. Eutophia is their kingdom's ally and both their fathers are dear friends since time immemorial.
But Dren was not to have a reverential awe of her father. He believes that they will make it through with love as their armour.
"We will fight for our love, Lovatia. Even if he takes my life." He whole-heartedly and bravely stated, kissing her forehead.
"And it shall be." A loud, booming voice echoed throughout the place as he was forced to halt by men covered with armours of gold who have just magically appeared in a blink of an eye.
"Father! No! We made a deal!" Lovatia said stepping frontward, as if blocking him from her father's view.
"I have kept my part of that deal. But that human entered this realm which is unallowed! He chose his own fate." King Oblivio X pointed his scepter towards Dren even when he is shaking with so much withheld anger.
"Sir I am in love with your daughter, Lovatia! We love each other!" Dren shouted as he tried to break free from the knights but it was of no use for they were as solid as gold.
"You cannot keep us apart!" He shouted, frustrated of his immobility.
"That love you are speaking is forbidden! A human and a goddess are not fit for each other! And this is the only way to end this nonsense."
"Father!" Lovatia cried as she saw a glowing red ball of light went out of King Oblivio X's scepter and flew towards Dren.
"Dren!"
Everything went by swiftly. With just a blink of an eye, Lovatia was already hugging Dren.
Dren's eyes grew wide of the sight before him. The whole of her body is glowing on and off like a light who's battery is slowly losing its energy---slowly losing its life.
"Lovatia!" Both men called in shock. She took the deadly shot for her beloved!
Dren instantly caught her limp body before it could fall on the ground. The knights had loosen their hold on him because of the unimaginable happening.
"No... No... Lovatia, do not die. Please, do not leave me, my love." Dren chanted over and over again, holding her close to him, tears flowing out from his eyes like a waterfall.
"I love you, Dren... Forever." She weakly said, eyes slowly closing as she slowly answer death's call, as she slowly lose her life.
"Nooo!"
The King was stunned as realization dawned on him. He killed his own daughter. How heartless of him! He killed the chosen one! The goddess of peace and love!
Suddenly, the world turned dark, lightning after lightning lined up in the sky, thunders were something you would never want to hear.
And out of nowhere, Lady Elhysia appeared, the goddess of all gods, the highest of them all.
Everyone bowed as the great goddess stood tall with bright lights glowing, showing off her existence amongst the others.
"That love was already declared forbidden, yet you set to fight for it. That love took one precious life and made a crack of the future ahead. That love, yes, so beautiful but a poison that will be given as a punishment to both of you, Dren, the human, and King Oblivio X. A punishment both of you can never escape. That love will remain forever in your hearts as again and again, it will both tear you up from the inside." Lady Elhysia stated with grace. She gazed around at everyone, every creature, that has witnessed the happening.
"Let this be an example to you who will try to do what is impermissible. Keep in mind that you are not fit for another creature different from who you are and that taking someone's life here in Eutophia..." She threw King Oblivio an ice-cold stare, "...is equal to an eternal punishment you are in debt of even after your death."
And with that, Lady Elhysia went gone as if she was never there. The world went back to its brightness and beauty beforehand. But the setting may be on its finest beauty, still, it now gives off a feel of remorse to everyone.
And Dren, cursed as he is, was thrown back to the human world but with an ability---the work of his hands moves inside the canvas, as though it has its own life, when finished...
Dren stares straight ahead but looks at nothing as he once again recalled the memoirs of Lovatia. Emotions---the happiness, the love, the drama, the pain---swirled like a raging storm. It formed all together, powering up, and then, it all hit his chest in one full blow.
He felt weak, his heart seemed hollow, making him fall on floor on bended knees as reality breaks him down once again.
"Lovatiaaa!" He wailed. His eyes were once again filled with tears, his heart is in deep sorrow, too great to feel, too great to conceal.
Their love was beautiful, their hearts were full of glee.
Love is the reason of one's living. Love is the reason of one's desire to die.
Love? Not all things last.
Love? Not all things pass.
And Lovatia?
She is perfect. Picture perfect.
You can see her, you can touch her, you can be beside her but you can never, ever have a goddess like her.
One Shot.
