The Man In My Garage

About 3 years ago something strange and odd happened and it's a night I will never forget. I was in bed, staring at the ceiling. I heard heavy foot steps outside my window. "Maybe I was just hearing things." but of course my paranoid self had to get up and check if the back door was locked. I turned on my phone flashlight and walked through the kitchen. Locked. Just as I thought it was. I shined my light towards the side door of the garage and saw it was unlocked. "But that door is always locked," I thought to myself. I walked to the door slowly, creeking it open. With sweating hands I shined my light along the garage wall. My heart felt as if it went into my throat, unable to properly breathe, as I saw a man perched on the work bench with unnatural wide blue eyes piercings right at me. He looked around 40 years old, clean shaven, skinny and as if he was someone's dad. We stood there staring at each other that seemed like hours, but was only about a couple minutes. He finally got off the table, still staring at me while walking backwards out of the garage. I stood there a few minutes after he had left, shocked and terrified. I didn't sleep at all that night and still think about it every day. Why was he there? Was he on drugs? Did he have nowhere else to go? But what still gives me goosebumps to this day is remembering those wide eyes... Those big unnatural blue eyes.
