Chapter 1
Andria walked out of the family room with the smart flat screen tv on playing Little Woman LA. With her phone in her small hands when she heard foot steps and something crashing to the hard word floor of the kitchen. “Giovani! Is that you?” She said, making her way down the hall and passed the living room to the wide open kitchen.
Furrowing her arched brows she looked around in confusion. Seeing that there was no one there, but the feeling of no longer being in the house alone crept up her spine; as though someone was watching her every move now. She looked around again still seeing no one she walked back to the living room and family room still there was no one there.
Till she heard the floor bored’s creak behind her. Spinning around to see who it was had her heart racing a mil a second as her light green eyes locked with ones that were similar to hers in every way. “Oh, it’s just you. You scared the crap out of me.” She said, with a light chuckle as she looked down to see a can of gasoline in their left hand.
“Why do you have that?” She asked, looking back up at the familiar face but the eyes that are so like her own weren’t light with humor or love like hers. They were cold and void of emotion as they stared back at her with a smile that didn’t reach their eyes. While they splashed the gasoline on the floors and near her feet that were covered in her white bunny slippers.
Dread crashed down on her as she jumped back with a shriek. “What the hell is wrong with you! Stop this right now!” She said, rushing back not paying any attention to where she was going and tripped over the coffee table falling on her butt with a hard thump. “I will mother.” The person said, with a twisted smile that slowly crept its way on their lips. “I’m telling your father that you need help, you’re sick.” Andria stated as she backed away on her hands. She watched as the person pulled out a book of matches from their hoodie pocket as they said, “I’m sick? I’m very well! I don’t need anyone’s help!”
“No, this isn’t you! And you need to get help, that’s all I want for you.” Andria said, as she backed away as the fear gripped her so tight it was starting to be come hard for her to breath. “I’m fine just the way I am mother.” They said, kneeling down to her level so they could be eye to eye as they continued speaking. “But I am sorry that you saw me setting the fire to the McKalen’s lastnight; I didn’t want to have to do this to you but you leave me with no choice since you couldn’t keep that damn mouth of yours shut.”
Andria kicked her leg up hitting her child in the center of their chest knocking them down as she bolted for the back door. As she reached the door trying to undo the chain lock and the bottom lock it became no use as she pulled on the knob. It wouldn’t budge no matter how hard she pushed on it and turned the knob. “You’ll burn like all the rest of them!” Her child yelled, their voice bouncing off the walls in the huge empty house.
Andria ran for the stairs tripping up the middle step as she made it to the landing. She ran down the hall and turned down the other hall to her and her husbands room slamming the door shut. As she dialed her husbands number with tears running down her pale cheeks. It rang and rang and went to voicemail, “No, damn it answer the phone! Please Giovani!” She yelled, into the voicemail with her voice cracking on the end. Being choked by her own tears, as she hung up and dialed the police at the same time the house started to fill with smoke with the fire alarms going off through out the house echoing.
Their blaring noise was the only thing she could hear as the thick smoke chocked her. “911, what is your emergency?” The female dispatcher said, over the other line. Andria coughed and choked as she gave her the address; “Please help me-“ she coughed “they’re here trying to kill me-“ she choked trying to take in a deep breath with her eyes watering. Her lungs burned from the smoke being in healed deep into them causing her to choke even more with a hard cough that seemed to go on for ever. “Who’s there trying to kill you ma’am?” The dispatcher asked, sitting up a little more wondering if she was serious or being pranked.
“N-no please send help they locked me in-” she tried saying choking on a cough. “Burning my house like the Mckalen’s!” She said, as it got harder for her see through the smoke that seeped in the bedroom through the under part of the door. “Ma’am, what’s your address? I’ll send over a squad car to check on you.” The dispatcher said, ready to type up the woman’s address to send someone out to check to see if her story checked out about the intruder. Coughing so hard and not being able to catch her breath she dropped the phone on the white cream carpet; leaning against the bed post as she tried catching her breath.
The heat licked at some of her skin that was exposed from under the door, to her vision blurring. She tried to make it to the door but it was jammed as she pushed against it. She yelled as she hit and hit her small fists against the white wood as she coughed more. Backing away from the door she squinted her eyes looking around the room till her blurry vision settled on the white chair in front of her vanity.
Throwing the chair as hard as she could it smashed against the window scattering the glass shards around. As the sudden air rushed in the heat from the fire exploded pushing her the two center meteors towards it. Andria toppled down from the four story home that was up in a blaze. Before she hit the thorn rose bushes her vision clouded once again and she blacked out with sirens blaring in the distance while a dole pain shooting from her arms an back...
