Chapter 1
Well...this is so unexpected. I have to get a ton of work in today. This should be fun. As soon as I get my stuff to go for my appointment, my mom yells my name from downstairs.
“KIARA! We gotta go babe. It’s time for your appointment!! It starts in a couple minutes! I’ll wait in the car for you ok?!”
I start rushing. The minute she calls my name I start panicking. Wow. I can’t believe I have it today...I’m sick and tired of going to the hospital. As soon as I get into clothes I run and get my things.
“KIARA! Hurry! Come on!! We don’t wanna be late!”
“Ok mom!!” I shout back
I get into the black car and I sit next to my mom. My Dad is at work right now, wish he could make it but..his hours got switched up and it’s a shame he couldn’t make it today. My sister is in college and she’s trying to be a doctor. She wants to help people like me. I really appreciate her for the things she does. And you might be wondering...“what does she mean by people like me?” Well...good question. I actually have been diagnosed with cancer. Which cancer? Leukemia. Yep. Leukemia has been a pain in the butt for me. But hey, I’ve got it under control...I think.
As soon as we get into the parking lot, my mom unbuckles her seatbelt and gets her belongings. I hand her, her matalic black purse and we get out the car.
“You ready?” My mom asks me.
“Uh..yea. I’m..ready.” I answer.
We stop for a minute and she looks at me
“Hey...it’ll be ok. You got this.”
“Thanks mom.”
We head inside and I head into A21 which is the room where I head to all of my appointments. They check in, they check on how my health has been and they run a few tests. Yep..I know how this goes. As soon as we get into the room my doctor (Ms. Thomas) greets us.
“Hello! It’s so nice to see you guys again. How have you been Kiara?”
I look down
“Hey Ms. Thomas. I’ve been..ok. How have you been?”
“I’ve been good! Thank you for asking. Now, you can take a seat right there and we’ll get you checked up ok?”
My mom takes a seat right next to me and calls my Dad.
“Hey honey, so we’re at Kiara’s appointment right now. Mhm. Yea. Ok sounds good. Alright. Love you too. Ok, bye.”
“What did Dad say?” I ask
“Oh, well he was just telling me something about the appointment. Nothing big!” My mom looked down nervously.
“Oh ok.”
Just by the look of my mom..I could tell she was lying..and that was for me to find out.
