And the she walks, hair swaying with the soft breeze clearly indicating that she is going the opposite of it. Her flip flops are dragging in the cold sand, and its fine grains are collecting themselves at her ankles. The night is beautiful, she embraces it with open arms. The moon illuminates everything everything around it, even the shape shifting clouds. Its a warm night at the beach, and walks like this usually calm her soul. After Every dreadful day she would come out here, take in the moist cool air and just let everything dissipate out of her, not completely, but just enough to let her breath normally again.
She looks up to the sky, and smiles as she tries to count the stars that blink in and out. How she wished she could just reach out and plug em out of the sky, their serenade of dance always intrigues her...
She is pulled from her day dreams by a familiar soothing voice... Completely forgetting that this time she had company and not alone.
" beautiful isn’t it?”
She turns to him and she smiles wonder as she realizes that he meant her. In the moonlight he is much more handsome than when the sun hits on his face. She wonders how he would look like in candlelight. Would his cheekbones be this finely curved, would his lips be this appealing, would his eyes have the same look as they do know and would he look at me as i do to him. She snaps out of her familiar zone and says
“Yes you are.”
He turns away, as if the moonlight would reflect the blush on his cheeks.
They find as saddle spot on the beach, he overlaid the space with a blanky he came with, and Jaz admired the arc of his back as he does that. Once finished, he sits down and taps alongside him for her to come sit down. They sat there, admiring the vast grey of darkness and the splashing of the waves as they beat the shore. The moon lights linger off the water, and sparkles emerge, like there is a little city in the ocean...
“Brad?” She says softly, barely inaudible from the sound of the ocean.
She feels his instant gaze on her.
“Ya.”
“Why do you like me that much.”
“What do you mean?” He asks, she can feel the curiosity and anticipation in his voice.
She turns to look at him, meeting his aspiring gaze, and she looks at the grey they project, moonlight to blame.
“I mean that, im but a simple girl. Im not as strong as you think.” She shifts her body into a more comfortable position, she wants to know. She wants to know why. She wants to know the full meaning of that look in his eyes, the full meaning of why it is so intense towards her. She wants to know why it pulls her in so deeply, like looking at it will make everything OK. She takes a deep breath..
“My heart is a lonely island,” she begins. “I have shipwrecks at my shores, i have destroyed souls that thought that probably it was i they were searching for all their time. Don’t let my vast kindness deceive you, that probably my heart will take anything in, well it cant.” She tears her eyes away from his, “You are an amazing guy brad, i give you that. Your shoulders carry all of my everything, but i cant even carry the whole weight of your heart.” She looks back at the reflection in the sea,“be careful of my light house brad, be careful, even waves crack at my shore.”
........
Shit! She thinks to herself.
The quiet sinks in. The waves rush out and slowly ebb back in as if reading the atmosphere. She feels the cold wind sip into her. Every second that’s passing by seems like an hour, and she is praying that he could say something...
Anything!
Please say something.
She feels warm fingertips at her chin. Softly turning her head for her to meet his gaze. She complies. Again their gazes meet, again she feels like she is falling into an abyss she cant come out off.
“You done?” He asks. She cant answer, only softly nod, her eyes, fixed on his.
“Well,” He smiles, her heart flips. “That was damn poetic.” He lifts his head and giggles loudly, his eyes never leaving hers. He takes a deep breath. Here we go, she feels her heart thump up to her throat, and she swallows hard.
Never leaving her gaze, he says, “So what?” Barely audible.
Clearly confused. She expected much more than that! ‘So what???' What the fuck?!
Clearly befuddled, she asks,“So what, what?"
“So what if your heart is a lonely island? You said that it has a light house right? The light house that shines all over everything?” He reaches out and holds her hand into his, she is amazed that she was feeling cold a minute ago, but now her hands are sweating like hell. She hopes he didn’t notice.
“Your light reached out to me,” He continues. “So i searched the world for the strongest tree in the whole world. I chopped it down with my own two hands, and fuck deforestation, i had to do everything to get to you. I build the strongest boat known to the world, even Noah would be jealous.” She smiles, she loves the way he talked, always quirky attractive.
“And i set sail to find to find the heart of no mans land.” He continues. “Your lighthouse showed me the way. And the way it illuminate everything around it, made me want to make it mine. In the vast ocean, it shone so bright it was like a star of its own. That is how special your personality is. I reach your lonely island, and there you are.” He puts his hand on her cheeks. “Right in front of me, as beautiful as nothing in this universe. Your shores are strong, and i maneuver past shipwrecks that tried to claim your heart. You are amazing to me, and you are not nothing, you are something of insignificant value. I’m here now with you, and i feel like I’m walking on clouds.”
And that was that. He said more than she could comprehend, and she was falling deeper and deeper into the abyss. But she doesn’t want to struggle any further. She lets herself fall into him, and their lips touch. The sound of the ocean fades. The silence fades. Now there was only music. Music of her heart drumming in her ears. And she embrace every thump and with it, she falls deeper, deeper into his arms. Her island, lonely no more.
The End.
